I've decided to reinstall a Cat even though my slow-down warning system does not function. Back in '08 I bought a Hyperflow cat from Ricambi but within months my slow-down system failed and I removed/sold the cat because I didn't want a cat without a working slow down light. But I've now changed my mind. I figure I can come up with a way to monitor cat temp remotely without doing anything to the car - NO, I don't know how at the moment, I'm just confident that "there's an app for that!" :)

So...what brand cats are folks using nowadays?

What year/model do you have? I am not aware of a substitute for the slowdown chip, but its just a fancy device to read a thermocouple and send warnings via a blinking or fully on light. You could install a generic one with a temp guage in the cabin and achieve the same purpose, being an indication of the cat overheating due to unburnt fuel igniting in the cat. I recall a link in a thread that had a supplier for thermocouples for industry.

Did you throw the Hyperflow away? ;)

Not as pretty as a Hyperflow (and not as loud and with more correct flanges), but I was happy with the cats I bought for my TR from these guys (TR uses the same cat as a 308QV/328):

    http://www.deccats.com

which were effectively 5.0 Mustang cats with the correct flanges for the TR (in fact, they were truly correct flanges; whereas, the Hyperflow flanges aren't really quite right). I've got Hyperflows on my TR now, but will probably swap back to to the DEC just to be a little more stealthy

I have to say that deccats website is absolutely terrible to navigate and find information. Then once you find the cat, you have no idea how to order it or how much it costs. Skill gaps, yup.

And their catalog for Ferrari is sort of messed up -- the same F cat, 121385, is used on many US models (TR, 308QV, 328, MondialQV, Mondial 3.2) = their FE4304 (or FE84304 for CA), but they have no listing for the QVs and for 328 they show FE4303 (which must either be a typo or they are making two identical things with different part numbers ;)). I can personally report that FE4304 replaces 121385 well (although 121385 is a superior design, but just too expensive!).

On the GT4 you need the offset cat so that you have enough clearance from framing. Also I was surprised at how loud these cats are.
