Another great labour budget.

Government fees and charges are going up by 3.5 per cent from July 1, you'll notice when you pay your car registration or cop a speeding fine.

After June 2019 the Government says it will keep these fees in line with inflation.

The Government's still expecting to get a lot more money from lead-footed drivers though.

It has set aside money for the technology to combine red light and speed cameras, and expects to be raking in an extra $28 million in speeding fine

 

You do realise I will be paying the best part of that $28M ???!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If Treasurer Jackie Trad’s first budget tells us anything, it’s that Queensland Labor is no longer afraid of the debt bogeyman.

The Deputy Premier’s budget speech conspicuously omitted any mention of public debt, which is tipped to exceed $83 billion in four years.

This comes as little surprise given Trad’s budget papers shed little light on how the state will arrest its debt trajectory amid flat revenues and accelerated spending.

Whereas former premier Anna Bligh pushed unpopular asset sales to preserve Queensland’s reputation following a ratings downgrade in 2009, Trad’s attitude to rising debt borders on dismissive.

Despite delighting in record budgets for education and health — where spending will rise four times faster than population growth — Trad’s budget says little about containing spending growth or ensuring value for taxpayers’ money.

 

That may we'll be the case Ian, however we did rid Queensland of that **** Moretti. [emoji6]
