Lorenzo believe me Le Mans is sooo different from any F1 track it would take a while to get used to it, Jenson stated how disconcerting it was that is not hype.
Hi Barton yes traffic was bad enough in the sunlight but I only drove in dry daylight weather there, no night stints and no wet ones thankfully. To be in the 24hrs in a GT car and have an LMP car barrel towards you as you approach the Porsche curves in a thunderstorm at midnight noooo thanks:eek:

I hope that by the time Le Mans is only run with electric or hydrogen cars I will be long gone yuk...

  2. (A) Should? Already has as he was faster than his co-drivers. (albeit only 14th in P2, but he's in what he's in)

    (B) Perhaps his interest was lacking at Daytona (most definitely, a boring circuit)

    (C) Who cares. Real race fans don't give a sheet. 'Noticed? Many venues are upgrading and they still aren't drawing 'em. Not even "event" goers.

The best times of racing are gone. Time'll tell about the remnants.

Yep that is one of my favorite race weekends, great cars great people, still have a buzz from it and it is not too crowded unlike F1 2 weeks later.

That and Le Mans Classic in a month are my top 2, pity both are just every two years.

    Seems I was rebaptised:)

    Traveling today, all the best,

    "Mark"

Wow, they're calling the weather two weeks out?

The 24 Hours changes dramatically when it rains.

In 2001, there was a virtual monsoon through the entire race. There were so many cautions for all of the
rain related incidents that open cockpit cars were taking in too much water into their cockpits. During one
of the long night time safety car periods, Tom Kristensen reported that the water was sloshing around like
a bath tub and his hands were getting shocks through the steering wheel in the Audi R8

Audi Sport would have to bring the cars in the garages to have the water vacuumed out of the cockpits but
with all of the electronics going through the steering wheel, there wasn't much that could be done.

No one really wanted to be there so close on the heels of losing spiritual team leader Michele Alboreto from
a testing accident. The rain didn't help. Naturally, as soon as the race ended so did the rain and the sun came out.

Chip’s sports cars have pretty much always been red white and blue. Even the butt ugly turtle shaped DP in the IMSA series with Pruett and Rojas.

I don’t see him changing that.

(Plus, I’ve never met him so I stand to be corrected, but he has never struck me as a “fun” kind of guy.)

You wonder how different the cars would look if the Mulsanne still had no chicanes...

Good looking car; I hope it appears in the United States races. Interesting they still use the "BT" moniker, since the "T" stood for Ron Tauranac! (For the uninitiated, he co-founded Motor Racing Developments with Jack Brabham back in 1962.)

  18. Nice! ;)

As soon as I saw jg's post I was gonna ask the same thing but I continued reading on.... :)

I don't think that different as a mile is still pretty long and the cars have still gotta be good on the other circuits.

Good to know. You hate to see rain especially with so many spectators from all over the world in
attendance but it is interesting to see how the teams deal with rain situations.

We learn today where things are really at, will be listening.

28 Prototypes is a lot, and the lead Rebellion car is hanging close. The Porsches seem to have a decided edge in GT-Pro; will there be any BoP changes made before the race?

A 40 second difference between the fastest and slowest cars seems like a lot, but is it?
