The horrible F1 regulations of today, the hybrid, too complex, so called 'green' PU, the overdeveloped aerodynamics, the Halo, the tyre inconsistency, the inconsequent use of SC, and so on.... FIA is just going nuts, and has lost all of its credibility.
With a total inexperienced person who waves the chequered flag, 1 lap early !, at the last Canadian GP, this beats it all. This is FIA responsability. Nobody at FIA seems to care.

Imagine 2 seconds Vettel and Hamilton, both WDC contenders, would be fighting for the lead in the last couple of laps. Imagine Hamilton would have his Mercedes' nose just ahead of Vettel's Ferrari. Then the chequered flag waves at end of the 69th instead of the 70th lap. Vettel overtakes Hamilton at the end of the long straight. Who wins?
Does anybody at FIA imagine what a gigantic legal battle this faillure would deliver?

This 100% unprofessional attitude, this kind of mistakes is inexcusable.
The time has come all the teams boycot FIA.
    And start all over.

    So it's harmless?
    Imagine what could have happend?
But it didn't, so FIA is doing a fine job?

While Liberty owns the rights to 'F1' I'm sure the FIA also has some exclusive right to sanction it. If they went elsewhere I'm sure they'd have to call it something different, in which case it will never work as it's been poven time and again over the years that whenever there is talk of a break away series someone always blinks and folds, frequently Ferrari in exchange for something.

The problem is that F1/FIA is what it is today because of external shaping pressures.

Remove the FIA, those shaping pressures will simply redirect the new organization to be just the same as the old.

If you want change, you have to approach the shaping factors.

Secondly, many series have had flagging issues, nothing new here. It is simply an element of human error. Remove the human elements and it would be boring.

The FIA is the world sanctioning body for all major motorsports, and is thus the 800-lb gorilla. The FIA can get rid of F1, but F1 cannot get rid of the FIA.

I look at this like Brexit

You can get rid of one uncaring, overbearing, bloated wasteful bureaucracy --- and then create another one! :)

There are rules in place for when the checkered flag is waved at the wrong time, so again, it's nothing new and has happened before. No matter who makes the rules, or who the officials are, or how many replays there are, the human element always comes into play unless you want to turn it over to the robots that can judge if a tennis serve is in or out and surrender to SKYNET like in the Terminator. Supposedly the super-model that waved the flag (and other celebrity flag wavers this year) only waved it when she was told to, so again, the mistake is a human element that you can't get rid of.

Yeah, the flag waving mistake is Montreal was a . . . . mistake. That's it. There's no reason to jump off the deep end about it.

    A mistake? That's it?
I am surprised so many people take it so lightly...
-Again, what would have happened if Vettel and Hamilton would have been fighting for the lead? A legal catastrophy
-You agree with the fact that FIA haven't restricted the extreme aero development, which makes, very often, overtaking totally impossible?
-You agree with the Pirelli tyre circus?
    -Halo is OK?
    -The power-faking DRS is OK?
    -The hybrid nonsense is OK?

I agree, but don't you think it is going the wrong direction?
Do you remember the awesome V12's and V10's, the noise, the more basic aero, which defined that overtaking was for drivers with brains and courage.

You seem to have lost the point that people are saying.

Flagging issues happen, in any and every series. We aren't saying it is ok, we just say that getting away from the FIA will not guarantee a resolve of flagging issues.

The aero elements would be even worse without the restrictions.

The tire circus is fine, although I also like it when teams compete with their own tire manufacturers. There are problems and good things either way.

DRS is a result of people whining about lack of passing.

The hybrid nonsense is a result of pressure from marketing and politics.

You won't change ANY of these by getting rid of the FIA. You change what has molded the FIA into what it is now.

Otherwise you will end up right back with meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

The FIA just meets with the players involved and looks for where the competitors want to go.

The competitors, Ferrari, Renault, Mercedes, wanted the hybrids.

Stupidity turned the FIA into what it is now. Dumb formulas year over year has produced the worst racing I have ever seen. They lost 300MM viewers since Todt started running the show. They ruined WRC and WEC and they are actively flying F1 into the ground. The only way to fix these issues is to have the teams leave F1 and appoint a new regulating body. This will never happen.

The manufacturers pushed for the formula and Flavio agreed and pushed, too. The manufacturers still want this formula, but Todt is working with Liberty to simplify and reduce costs to entice additional competition...

    Who is the bad guy?

...in fact, I will remind everyone. We almost ended up with inline 4 turbos.

Surprisingly it was the engineers that pushed back and got the current V6 configuration.

Is there a racing series that isn't suffering today? Maybe MotoGP? I think they problem is we've gotten to an odd place where technology has gotten so good that it's eliminated a lot of the fun factor for people.

Yes, like when the Space Shuttle blew up. "Human error" -- "there are rules for these things" --nothing to see here.

Are you serious with this post or is it a joke?

What if a fan jumped on the track because they wanted to be first under the podium when the drivers still thought they had another lap? Did you think of that human error?

And you seem to have lost the point I am saying.
The flagging: FIA is responsible, no one else. If a human can't do it, let it be done by a machine. The idiot who gives order to the VIP-model-celebrity-whatever, should drink less champagne and party after the GP, not during.

The aero: FIA is responsible for not imposing ENOUGH and efficient restrictions. As I said before, 2 simple spoilers, 1 front, 1 back.

The tyre circus and its inconsistency: FIA is responsible. They imposed the 1 brand policy. And didn't interfere when Pirelli suddenly changed compound composition to advantage one team: Mercedes.

DRS: if aero would be less developed, cars would overtake more frequently and in a fair, sportive way: much more credit to the driver than to the horsepower. DRS is take. FIA responsability

Hybrid: pressure from politics and marketing? And why would FIA listen to that? Who says that teams wanted hybrid? This is total fantasy.

Pretty naive to think FIA "just meets with the players involved and looks for where the competitors want to go"
If that would be the case, F1 would be having 1200 horsepower V12 pr V10 engines.

The FIA is the creator and holds the rights to the World Drivers Championship and the World Constructors Championship.
Therefore you cannot have F1 without the FIA.

It's a bit like wanting the Olympic Games outside the International Olympic Committee, or the Football World Cup without FIFA.

Are you saying that humans don't make errors? I'm just saying that mistakes are made all the time in pretty much every part of life, and you either accept it or you don't. There have been people walk onto F1 racetracks during the race, so what's your point or are you joking?
