That's Amazing, Marcel: you are better than an encyclopedia! Last week I took pictures of 56645, a single owner, unrestored, gorgeous car in Modena. I'm sure you know the owner and the car too. Pictures will be displayed on my book (there is a chapter about the 288 GTO too). Next time you will visit Maieli shop or Maranello, I would be very pleased to meet you. Thank you very much ciao Image Unavailable, Please Login
that's a fantastic picture: thanks for sharing! ciao PS There is an interesting story to tell about those two air intakes Image Unavailable, Please Login
Pas de quoi Alberto, picture was made by DK engineering. Nothing about an but for me is not so important. Which story? I know they are built in the opposite direction compared to others, probably for a rejection of hot air ? I notice the same for the F40...back in lateral, without them the style in general of F40 is really hard.. Ps: red insert Gto is incredible.
They are the engine combustion air intakes. Materazzi told me a very interesting and amusing (incredible too) story about them, involving him, Fioravanti and Enzo Ferrari: maybe you can find it among the video featuring him on YouTube too. ciao
This. Mauro owns it since April 1985. Scaglietti Body number 183. Marcel Massini Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yes, that's it. I had no doubt you knew him. Is you picture taken during that last year 70 th meeting in Maranello? ciao Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks for that body number, this is one of a handful of GTOs still in original ownership, FWIW 56645 has been posted in this thread a number of times
Joe, this thread has 11930 posts and it's going on since eleven years: As there are just 272+6 cars, I would say that every (or almost every) chassis number has been posted in this thread (very likely) a number of times. Ciao
I'm not sure about that, for the simple reason that I am aware of at least one GTO that has been kept away from prying eyes out of public sight for longer than this thread has been in existence, and since I am not familiar with all the cars, it stands to reason there must be more like that. In fact, as with most dedicated threads or registries, it's unlikely you're ever going to have images of all the cars produced. That said, there are some cars that are shared with the public, driven on the road and taken to events which will be photographed and posted multiple times.
Classic reading, they rarely publish articles like they used to - EE.031.AK Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thank you Marcel Exactly, for example, I am aware of someone who purchased one in 1985, and it has @ 100 miles on the clock, it has not been on public roads or to any event. Before anyone chimes in with comments that this is such a waste or how sad, this is the owners' prerogative, and in any case, the ones that are driven a lot make up for those that aren't, and there are plenty of the former

Thanks for sharing, Christian. That picture is less than 35 years old , but it looks to come from another era, when Ferrari didn't care about "selling" the factory assembly line look too. How poor the factory looks to be if compared to the actual look: now everythingn at the factory has been designed to be very nice to see and not just good to use as a common work place usually is. This said, it prefer the genuine old look that is showed in your picture ciao
