It's hard to assess how much debt(if any) FI is carrying on the books. Lotus(Genii Capital) had a competitive season with Kimi and Grosjean and racked up an enormous amount of debt.

Vjay is saying it’s not going to happpen because he knows Andretti will not pay his price.

Because their is no money there or big push for another US team.

I read there was something fishy going on during the last year at Lotus Genii. The owners were syphoning the money and putting the team in the red deliberately.
Renault found out when they took over the site and went through the books. Apparently some creditors were waiting patiently, having been told by Lopez during the previous year, well before anything was agreed, that the debts would be paid in full by Renault. That was reported in the French motoring press. Apparently Renault paid something like twice their initial outlay, and that must have send Carlos Goshn through the roof! He is known to like tidy accounting.

Yes the team stiffed Kimi who did not complete the term of his contract.

We have never learnt if Kimi was paid in the end.

Yep, it's been a quarter of a century since his foray into F1. And although he didn't do himself any favors, he got less than maximum support as well. To continue to bash him for something that happened so long ago, especially in view of what he's accomplished since then, is pretty pointless. Frankly I'd like to see him have a go in F1 and would wish him well, especially if he were to develop an American driver. There are probably six drivers on the grid now who don't have Rossi's talent.

I have to say I have been impressed with Rossi's drives in Indycar.

Agree. Unfortunately driving an Indy car is the kiss of death on F1. Maybe now with Bernie gone but looking at Haas, I have very little confidence there will be a good US driver in any F1 seat in the near future.

If they can keep Grosjean, there is no hope for any US Indy driver.

Interesting video I found going back to 93. I didn't know Michael was contacting Nigel during the 93 season for advice.
