I was thinking the same, and not just timing belts but all belts
Dave, yes, sorry, I meant that is what Ferrari mandated with their service bulletin. My owner's manual states 7 years 52,000 miles, I was merely pointing out that Ferrari came out with a service bulletin that supercedes the owner's manual.
I waited 6 years, yes that is SIX years and just got it back. Engine in ? Why in God’s name would you even think of saving any money on a 355 major service I spent $11,000, that’s the while you are in there price New cats installed, carbon fiber door sills (plus $700 more) oh and the cats were over a grand. Motor mounts, water pump etc and the list goes on and on.
Hello all and thanks for your replies to my OP post. Sorry have been out of touch for a few days. Update: I had the MOT carried out today by main dealer (all no problem). Discussed my dilemma with service manager who told me "engine in is the way ferrari recommend we now do it" .... "the technicians we send to maranello are now being trained to do it this way" .... "surprised if all main dealers are now not doing it this way". confused dot com ! Is there a 355 owner in the UK who can ask their main dealer how they would change cambelts to verify this information ? In reply to other posts, the car has a mixture of main and indie stamps over its history. Last 2 services for me were main dealer with every traffic light green (except tyres which I subsequently replaced). I have every reason to expect another all green report if I go main dealer route for this cambelt change. And yes ....... I should stop thinking about 51k as being high mileage and instead get out there and drive it more because value wise the next 5 - 6k miles are probably "free"
