I know they were an option at that time. Mine currently has a Kenwood in it so I suspect that to be an addition and not original.

    Hi Johnny61

Thanks for that info -- any chance of a model number, or better still a photo please.

    Thanks
    Phil

I didn't think there were any consumer digital displays in 77, if that's what I'm seeing.

1979 is right on the cusp of some changes to the radio designs, by 1980 various electronic displays and buttons started to replace the earlier manual controls and backlighting on some brands, like Blaupunkt.

The 1980 Pioneer dealer catalogue is here...but still no lcd screens to be seen. https://audiohoho.files.wordpress.com/2011/10/pioneer-stereo-catalog-19801.pdf

The Pioneer in the 1977 car is probably mid 1980's.

Most Ferrari's of this late 70's period would have had the Blaupunkt CR2001 unit, which still had manual controls, but other BP models up to the early 1990's have a period enough look and have switchable lcd's from orange to green to match the instrumentation as needed. Many BP models are still around as they were often used in Porsches. Some German markets used Becker, and as these were all dealer installed you could have Pioneer, Alpine and other one off choices made by a dealer or to a customer preference. But it does seem like Blaupunkt was the most common installation in period. These were expensive and a prestige brand, and found in Porsche, Rolls, etc. so Ferrari dealers would have probably been instructed to get the "best" available at the time.

Also, the late 1980's typically had cassette, but some cartridge CD's had come out, and by early 1990's the CD's were quite common, although cassettes were still available. Many Ferrari owners from the late 1980's would have upgraded to a CD player that was leading edge at the time. An early 90's Blaupunkt in a mid to late 80's car would not look or be out of place.
