Really stupid question..My rotor has a crack in it. It runs fine on cool days but once warmed up on a hot day it will break up and misfire ..could the rotor be the culprit? Asking because they are $300 a piece on my '80..

    thanks

Very possible that could be the culprit but with a the crack rotor, I would immediately replace it asit can disintegrate at high rpm and can ruin the cap as well. If you shop around, you should be able to find it cheaper way cheaper.

The rotor has a crack, or the cap has a crack ?

Superformance sells these parts at a big discount. Note that they are not OEM Ferrari parts, but work quite well.

Caps and rotors are regular maintenance items on most cars that used them.

The green plastic of the rotor arm. Looks like it was overtightened and put a hairline crack through it.

    Any updates?
Ordered my new distributor rotors from Superformance June 30th.. still haven’t shown up. Called them yesterday and they said they sent them via postal service. Should see them in 17 days. Seems like nothing is straightforward or easy anymore..

I got my rotors from Superfromance in about a week from order date. Installed and car runs as it should again. But I've had stuff from them take longer.

So everything appears to be running on my car again too. New pick up sensors, new plugs, New caps, new rotors, and new plug extenders. I still noticed that it took a few minutes and a lap around the neighborhood before it finally seemed "normal." I did uncover that 4 of my extenders were shot.

Now, I really wonder about the vacuum mechanism on the Digiplex units. What I mean is that I am uncertain how they actually work and adjust timing. I may have read that a ball moves across a slide with the vacuum to set the different curves. Maybe a winter sit causes one of the units to lag
(ball doesn't move) and the timing doesn't exactly match until both are moving freely. This is just a speculation and would love to hear any input.
