I agree 100%, but IMO a 360 is simply not a car to be used for commuting and all that goes with it. If you can afford a 360, you can afford to buy/lease a used a "whatever" for mundane travel. The 360 will kill you with the (wasted) per mile costs. I loved hopping in the 360 after a days work, every day I could, but would never use it to get to/from. I did however go get groceries a time or two!

There is absolutely nothing practical about owning an exotic.

So true, here is something that happened 45 minutes ago. So went to a retail store. Was in there no more than 15 minutes. Came out, and one of those idiots that feel that they have to back into spaces regardless of driving talent or common sense has a crappy minivan parked 8-10 inches over the line. I can't open my door unless I take a chunk out of their side view mirror.....so I did. Was driving my $20k Ford Escape, the very definition of a throw away DD. Would have been gutted to have that situation with any even nice car (ala BMW) much less a Porsche, Ferrari, or Lamborghini.

If you want emotion, soul, mystique, bulletproof engine and practicality in a DD, plus understated exclusivity thrown in for good measure, then I'd opt for the best manual Vantage V8 coupe that you can buy for under a buck.

I never really paid much attention to the AM, but just looked on US Autotrader and there are 100's for sale, most well under 80k, some with under 5k miles! Why is there such a glut of them? Looks like a LOT of car for the price!

It really is a lot of car for the money. Most owners agree that every drive, even a quick run to the grocery store, brings a sense of occasion. Plus the exhaust note is intoxicating. The only prob is that most owners also suffer chronic neck strain, which develops because the V8V is so drop dead gorgeous that it's impossible to park the car and not look back at least two or three times.

It would be a bit of a dark horse, but have you by chance checked out any Lotus Evora 400s?

Here's a question.. why? So pretty.. so intoxicating.. blah blah blah... if they're so great why so many for sale at such a low price. Upper 30's for a car is embarrassing for a car that 12 years ago was $180k-200.

I suspect you get raked over the coals when it comes time to buy a part that isn't a Ford equivalent. I looked at them when I was looking for my 360 in 2010. My 360 hasn't lost a dime. I would have lost $10-20k on depreciation alone if I'd gone that route. My sweetie forbade me from buying a British car...

You should get your facts straight. Twelve years ago the fully equipped base Vantage was under $110k, and with every possible option topped out below $125k. That's hardly $200k territory!

Someone earlier said they DD their Evora 400 and highly recommended it. Let me know why it would be a good DD...say over the 360 or GT3.

Because, I want a DD that is alive and brings the romance everyday...or I can stay in my practical, logical world of Lexus.

No, I understand that. But I don't get the everyday thing. Do something often enough and it becomes boring. And, sometimes, driving an F car is just a PITA.

Not too many people on here will agree with you there- "driving an F car is just a PITA". It's not the driving that's a PITA, it's the NOT driving it because it's in the shop that's a PITA.

No. It's the driving. What are the road and parking conditions? What is the weather like? What about road construction? The reality is most people take precaution when driving and parking an F car. That's why they're usually not a DD. It's not feasible to presume that good driving conditions will exist every day, and certainly not from beginning to end. So what if a freak storm arises and roads flood or traffic is blocked or everyone in your area can't drive in rain and the roads are full of fools. Do you Uber home every time that happens, then have to play the car exchange game to get the F car back home? It's simply not worth all the hassle.

There's a huge reason why most of us take our cars out only to drive on a beautiful day and then go back home. Much less to be concerned with.

While I'll take mine out and parallel park it downtown.. if I was in a bigger city with people who were more inclined to abuse it while parked and the traffic were worse it would be a PITA.

Mmmmm... no. There are just times when you need to go to the market or on some side trip and it's a pain. To me a daily driver is really that -- you can take it through a McDonald's drive through, park it next to a beat up pick up truck without worry, drive through a rough neighborhood because you need to get somewhere, drop it at the airport, park it on the street, etc.

I think people have a misconception of what a "daily driver is". Taking it to your parking space at your office to your home garage is not daily driving. It's very restrictive driving.

OK, we're 70 posts in on a Ferrari site & no one has suggested it, so I'll broach the topic. ;) Have you considered a Cali? They're close to your $$ limit although a bit higher for nice examples. Modern F-car reliability and the ability to go from coupe to convertible in 15 secs. And, you can go from a comfy, modern GT cruiser for the highways to a sporty, back roads rascal even quicker than that by switching Comfort to Sport, and Auto to Manual. You can drive it to work, take your wife out for dinner, or find some friends & tear up the back roads...T

Of all the Ferrari's to date (that doesn't include the future SUV), the CA is the closest to a true daily driver, if not actually being one.

Door ding? Oh darn. Well, call a dent removal service.
Scratch in the paint? Ummm... well you really can't see it. I can get some touch up on Amazon
Nose scrape? Ooops. Oh well... I'm here!

That's not to say you don't care. You just don't worry every last minute about it. And you won't worry if it will break down in the fast lane on the Freeway at rush hour.
