The listing stated that the engine was from a P400 S. Was this a matching number car?

I'm really not sure if engine 2211 was replaced or rebuilt, but that number is consistent with that of a P400.

To my earlier point, Miuras of any variant always look really good in silver, IMHO

The engine was taken from another car that had been totaled. It was stated in the auction listing and the estimate and price reflected the non matching numbers.

The auction description states a recent engine rebuilt at a cost of 75000 Euro yet the engine and engine bay looks as tired as other parts of the car. The description states that the car is “ presented in flawless condition”.

    I see that now.

    Definitely a good restoration candidate.

Meanwhile the Silver Lowbody is being discussed: https://www.carscoops.com/2018/07/fully-restored-lamborghini-countach-series-ii-will-craving-money/[/QUOTE]

I am looking forward to this sale.....should be a good time again in Monterey.

This year I am bringing my 1999 Lamborghini Diablo SV. Full Black on Black. Steve with www.DrivenExotics.com has had it for almost a year and $75K later to make it, IMO, the BEST Low Mile ONE of ONE 99 SV in the USA....will be driving it from LA up to Monterey on the Italian Stamped...FUN TIMES

Yes Joe, I do also like Miuras - all versions - in silver.

But concerning especially Miura #4716 that you've just posted (nice pict. !), this particular Miura P400S is definitely far more sexy when seen from its back-end than from its front-end !

I still cannot understand why this car still wears in 2018 this ridiculous front bumper fitting !!!
Problem that was already present 20 years ago ( at that time #4716 was entirely red-painted, incl. side rocker panels - but with this same front bumper arrangement...) - and not corrected during its later restoration / color-change to its current silver color ?...

    Joe,
Concerning Miura P400 #3649 you are mentionning - just sold this week-end by Artcurial-Motors auction sale during Le Mans Classic 2018 event :
The original motor corresponding to this car is effectively #2211.

I personally know #3649 for more than 20 years (early 1998 ?), but I've never seen this P400 engine #2211 in it.
I've always seen it equipped with the "...replaced by a P400S specs engine..." they mention in the car description / auction catalogue.

FYI, (for the one interested in such infos...) the "P400S engine" currently mounted in Miura P400 #3649 is number #30483, coming from Miura P400S #4503.

Correct, now that he's decided to part with it, the public auction stage is a good venue to give all interested parties an unrepeatable opportunity.

Since it was for my own collection, went through it with a fine tooth come and just basically made it as if new. It did NOT have the correct SV wheels, that alone cost $12K, new clutch, valve job, shocks, rubber stuff new SV stickers, you name it I did it.
