Unscrew the switches and carefully remove the old plate, then install the new one.

1st) pull the black plastic knob, they should just pull straight up.
2nd) unscrew the chrome ring that has the two slots 180 degree from each side.
3rd) carefully pry the olds plate off and install the new plate.

My question has to do with replacing a switch in that panel. In order to get at the wiring, how do I lift the panel to get behind it. I've found screws in the ashtray, but is that all of it?

Yep, just those 2 screws. Keep pressure with your hand on the console when you take the screws out, and when you put them back. Even though those screws hold it down, you don't want them to be the source of pressure on the cover when it's coming on and off.

there are no hidden Clips holding it down by the way. So just lift it carefully and replace it carefully. It can be a bit tweaky to put the screws back in the proper place once the ashtray is replaced, just give it some patience.

This is how I did mine when I had my interior reupholstered. Remove the ashtray, lift the front up a little, the pull it forward as it clamps in the back, see pic.

Thank you. It looks easier than I had expected.

Although more expensive, I suggest to look for and aquire the 'uncratchable' plates. A member here developed and sells them.

Im not sorry I did and I don't believe you will be either.
