There was a thread on that one here. Someone bought it from Duttons "immaculate" sight unseen and when the car arrived, he was in for a shock..

I've had a good look at it - the interior was done up recently and is pretty much perfect. Exterior is 8/10. Just by looking at it you'd never tell it's done 130k kms. But it's priced way too high - black Aus delivered 575 with 30k kms has been sitting at Lorbek for ages with asking price of $209k, realistic price for this one is around $110-120k

I agree, a lot of big ticket items are nearing replacement time at 130kms. A buyer would have to budget for suspension bushes, wheel bearings and new shocks = $50K. Then there are engine items like the oil pump drive shaft chain and bearings, water pump bearings, etc. Easily another $25K.

btw I am reliably informed that the black Lorbek car is UK delivery

Ian even factoring the major work to be done , I think it's a lot of car for the money ?...You would have a well sorted V12 for around 250K.......Considering less than 3000 cars were made and the majority were LHD so probably one of less than 400 RHD cars surviving...

Unfortunately would always be difficult to resell. Smarter to pay $210-220K for a low kms locally delivered car, that would give 5 years of needing nothing but routine servicing. If you bought a 40K car now, a typical person would be selling with less than 60K, so quite acceptable.

You could take a punt on the high mileage car for low $100's but it will always be sale-proof and unless the suspension's been done it's going to be a tired drive. There are other high-mileage issues too, e.g. 575's have 4 pre-cats built into the exhaust manifolds, $15K for after-market, $30K for OEM replacements.

I guess I was thinking long term....I know there are a few 575s on the market at the moment but with less than 400 RHD cars surviving world wide I wouldn't imagine it will always be the case....I remember when there were quite a few 550s and 512Ms on the market at any one time......You don't see it so much anymore as supply is low.....There seems to be a sort of pattern that once an F car hits around 30 years old the market strongly dictates where it is going to go from there......Given that I think the 575 has a bright future....

and it has "tasteful" red piping on the seats. Spew.

What is it with the f**king poms and seat piping? It was only there in the first place because they didn't know how to sew upholstery properly. Like the seams on an e-type bonnet - Italian coach builders worked out how to do away with them in the 1940's.

So an early 90s Aston Martin Virage is out of the question (probably the thickest gauge piping in the business )

What is it with the ****ing Aussies and tan carpet?

It’s only there in the first place because they’re used to it from their Falcons, Valiants and Comodores.
No one else in the world likes it but they cling on like it’s the last word in good taste.

Italians didn’t do away with it in the ‘40s, they were never stupid enough to have it in the first place!
