He's a young American driver in F2, has done a couple of test sessions with Haas F1. I was interested to see how he did this year in F2. At Silverstone this past weekend, a technical delegate reported seeing him drive his car from the paddock onto pit lane wearing only one glove and holding his cell phone in his hand. In the races, he twice hit his teammate forcing him off the track. Then on the cool down lap after race 2 he 'appeared' to deliberately drive straight into the rear of his teammate once again. The team agreed with the stewards that it looked like a deliberate act. The stewards summoned him in to explain himself for both the in race and post race behavior, and he refused to go and talk to them. The result, disqualified from the results of race two, banned from the next two F2 weekends, and fined €60,000. My question is this. His results weren't that good to begin with, so what are the odds he just gets dropped like a rock and never comes back after the two weekend ban? Unless he has some sort of solid contract in place that allows him to act like a jackass on track, I would say " Bye-bye, kid. Good luck flipping burgers."
I agree with the ban and racing would be a lot better without asswipes like him in the sport; however, he's a trust fund kid (his dad runs a hedge fund or something like that), so the odds of him flipping burgers is pretty low. which is a shame.
Could it be the team? His teammate had quite the meltdown recently as well. https://wtf1.com/post/listen-to-this-f2-drivers-emotional-radio-outburst-against-his-team/
Ferrucci has a lot of driving ability, but his performance this weekend makes me think he's an arrogant ass who thinks everything should be handed to him on a silver platter. Compared to him, Lance Stroll, who's in a similar position, behaves like a gentleman. Yes, he does complain a lot, but he wouldn't do any of the crap that Ferrucci has done.
That's what happens when some rich folks indulge their kids, I say. Whatever skills he has, this boy Ferruci won't go far in motor racing hopefully, unless he adopts a completely different attitude. And many spoiled brats cannot do that: whining and having tantrums is all they know.
This article came up when I did a quick search. This is from 2010 when he was 11 years old. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.gq.com/story/santino-ferrucci-the-most-dominant-american-racer/amp An excerpt: “I tell my mechanics what to do, and usually they listen. If they don't, they're fired." I point out that, as far as I've seen, it's his dad who's tightening bolts. And you can't fire your dad. "Yes, you can. You say, 'Dad, you're no good. Hire a mechanic.'" What an *******. Even at 11.
He should be dropped. He doesn't conduct himself like a gentleman, shows no sportsmanship, and hasn't got a professional mindset to being a racing driver. Whatever skills he may have, he treats it like a paid hobby and not a career. He does not deserve to return to F2, let alone get a shot in F1. All the best, Andrew.
Ive been following Satinos career since he got signed as a Haas test driver. he is a little **** and this just takes the cake. **** him I hope he never makes F1
Arrogant kid, been hearing a few radio of him before this and he just struck me as an entitled ****. Seems there's been a lot of bullying going on towards Maini from both Santino and his dad. I think he can wave his European career goodbye. Maybe buy himself into a strapped for cash indy team or something. But unless I was desperate, I wouldn't want to deal with this talentless **** and his father. He'd never get in contention for a super license .
From another forum: 2014 - Euro F3 - 19th 2015 - Euro F3 - 11th 2016 - GP3 - 12th 2017 - F2 - 22nd 2018 - F2 18th (so far). He's awful, and too stupid to realize it.
No. To be fair...this should be merged with the "Alonso Sucks" thread. You can keep all the whiny little ***** in the same thread. It keeps the whiners in one place. Turbopanzer...kicking whiny asses since 1957 !
In 2014, he got 24 points. Ocon got 478 and Max V got 411. In 2015, he got 91 points. STROLL got 231 and Leclerc got 363.5. In 2016, he got 36 points. Leclerc got 202 and won the series. In 2017, he got 4 points. Leclerc got 282 and won the series. He's much, much worse than Stroll.
Yeah, the Brats Team, sponsored by Fathers who have more money than sense. Guys like that should just get into a ProAm series where their money would be welcome and their lack of talent go unnoticed.
Agreed. Guy with money like this tend to fail upwards in life, so I imagine a ride in IMSA or WEC isn't too far away.
