Times change. There is nothing sold in recent history that can compare to the visceral experience of driving the 1973 Super Duty Trans Am I had in the 80s...but that’s okay. Some of us love vintage cars because of what they were and still are...but, to expect everything modern to have the same experience is unrealistic. Fortunately, we have vintage racing that allows us to remember that version of glory days.

You and I are clearly separated by generations, yet both of us can align on what the "glory days" should more or less be/sound like. Don't you find that interesting? Some things are just meant to endure.

Everything has a “golden age” ...with automobiles, that started after WWII and ended in the early 70s. In fact, the ‘73 T/A I had is widely considered to be the last real muscle car. The technologies that so many complain about are what are keeping ICEs relevant and in production.

I'd like to think we are in "muscle car" era 2.0 currently.

I would actually agree...and, we have technology to thank for that. My T/A had “300” horsepower from 7.5 liters and quite frankly was never going to make it to 100,000 miles without a rebuild. The BMW M2makes similar horsepower from three liters and is a real 200k car.

We are definitely in the Muscle car era 2.0
Much like before it won't last but it sure is amazing what kind of cars they are building right now. Dodge Demon is crazy and I know back in the day people thought the T/A HD was crazy.

Latest report has information that Ferrari has gotten a new fuel from shell which has may have contributed to the PU being now better than Merc's one and is point out that the new formula of fuel has improved fuel economy.

well......I only use Shell V Power in my Shifter Kart, sports cars and damn near any engine big or small that I care about. Its great fuel, probably the best pump gas on the market

I have forget to add that judging by the comments this is also the reason that Ferrari's MGUH has become more efficient and beating out Merc's now. Note that HAAS was only over a tenth more than RB in the Q3 in British GP so yeah it definitely was a huge gain.

According to Nico (he mentions it twice in this video) Ferrari have figured out how to get extra HP through their turbos. (see 7:25) I'm not really sure what he means though. Says they're getting more HP from the turbos and also more energy from the batteries?

That's Horner just saying the less wing means we are slower and all that headlines. If you just as fast as on most corners or slightly faster as in .4 mph or less faster in corners of which you gain same or little gain l, but slower in the straights that's not best chassis, that's just saying you have comparable chassis. If you have 2-3 or more mph in the majority of corners which you gain massive time than the next team, but are way slower in the straights then you can call it the best chassis IMO. RB cannot say that and I think it's down towards suitable corners of which their car best at.

He's saying that they're scavenging energy better. The turbo is the MGU-H...H is for heat...the MGU-H essentially takes this otherwise wasted energy and recycles it...but, it gets better...

The MGU-H also controls the turbo...it gathers energy by slowing the turbine, but more importantly, it can pre-spool the turbo... meaning zero turbo lag and GOBS of torque available on demand.

I really hope they don't get rid of it.

Plus they are running an extra battery for better harvesting and recharging.....meaning Ferrari can run longer with more help from the MGU-H and batteries.

https://www.reddit.com/r/formula1/comments/8ycaxz/comparison_between_scuderia_ferraris_sf71hs/ I forget but the reason maybe the way RB have made their chassis. Remember Ferrari last year run one of the shortest wheelbases on the grid with the SF70H. Well with the current SF71H they lengthen it to almost Mercedes wheelbase hence why they're doing so much better now. RB is almost like the SF70H in terms of performance however they're having the same troubles as that car hence that's why Ferrari decided to go for the longer wheelbase this year. RB must be kicking themselves not to do that hence why their chassis is best isn't favorable at all and add on weaker engine which doubles the disadvantage for RB.

He's completely right. No statement is truer than that. As long as they keep pushing greater upgrades they can keep it up and win both championships along with a fired Kimi let's hope he keeps it up a more agressive Kimi will help massively for Seb to win both championships. Now that Merc has ended up 2nd right now they are likely going to go all out so I hope Ferrari is prepared cause it's going to be much tougher and harder after this. Not to mention Ham must be agitated and moviated to make up lost ground so they have to be really careful of him. Also worth mentioning is next race is Germany home to Mercedes so expect a much heavier push than before since it's their home and Seb's also.
