Cheers guys, it was actually Papou's suggestion to do it. Big thanks to him, and he's been a regular contributor to it.

Bill, you were close. Papou came up with the idea in one of his posts, and suggested that "somebody" start the thread and make it a sticky.

I was that "somebody" as I'd just gone through a lot of cross referencing of parts as I was doing my major, and Rob agreed to sticky it.

Close is good, I knew you started it because you and I we're talking at that time about getting enough stuff together so Rob would make it sticky.

Anyway thank you so much for all the time that you put in to get it up and running, it is helpful to so many people.

I have told quite a few Ferrari technicians about it .

    Cheers John

Crosses over to BMW 64-11-1-373-188 which was used on U.S. 1982 528e at least. Also may be used on other E24/E28 of that era as well as perhaps w124 Mercedes 300e/260e

Also according to this thread you can replace the center solenoid cartridge with 'MB mono valve part, 000-835-06-44'

The 550 and 575 exhaust valve electronic solenoid valve, and same one the Secondary Air Injection (smog pump) is the same part as ALOT of Volkswagen cars use. They use the exact same part also for the SAI for the exhaust. I just put on one from a 2000 model Beetle. Here is a few pictures. One with one «Ferrari» part on top and the «Volkswagen» part at the bottom (in the second picture). They are identical!

Alternator for a 575: anyone knows an alternative? John Deere Marine was spotted for a 456. (I actually own a 612 - assuming so far that the setup should be the same as a 575)

Hi there, i need your help please! I’ve been trying to source part #175350 (complete fuel flowing back pipe) for my 2000 456M GTA and i have searched the globe for it but no luck. Someone told me Ferrai doesn’t make them anymore. My car has been sitting at the mechanic‘s for 2 months now waiting to for that part. Any recommendations? Thanks

Looks like a simple rubber hose + fitting and a valve of some sort. Betcha you can find a replacement at AutoZone: doesn't look like there is anything special to it. Even easier if you have the original part that needs replacement.

Maybe you already did, but did you try eurospares.co.uk? they have a price for the part, but list it as "subject to availability" though.
These guys https://www.scuderiacarparts.com/part/21715/ferrari/175350/complete-fuel-flowing-back-pipe.html also seem to have it.

    striker plate cover (molded plastic)

This part is found inside your boot (or trunk lid) in the center of the carpet on the leading edge. It is the plastic cover that trims in the latch/receiver.

Ordered this part to replace the one in my car in which I had leaned on and cracked.
It arrived in a sealed Ferrari box with the Ferrari part number on the box. Inside sealed in another wrapper was a labeled BMW part with p/n 51248118687. It is the correct part.

The Ferrari piece is $40 to over $60.
    Searched BMW parts online, $12.05

    Hello

    Ferrari 456 starter motor 137269.
I bought a new Bosch starter number 0001110083 from ebay for very little money and swapped the flange. All the internal part numbers matched. Works perfectly.

Just wanted to confirm that the $12.05 part I referred to above in post #341 is exactly the same piece that came in the sealed Ferrari box. For grins I ordered a $12 spare in case this part ever gets broken again. It arrived in the exact same wrapper with BMW label and part number.

Thanks Bill but you got the Ferrari part number wrong. Should be 63861700, not 63861709 :)

For twelve bucks it's worth having a spare

Don't know if this has been discussed already but I needed replacements for the hood lift supports on my 575; so I did a little searching. The factory parts are Stabilus/Sachs SG237002 (internal PN is 0444HI). They are 576 mm (22.7") long with a 220 mm (8.66") stroke for a closed length of 356 mm (14"). The force rating is 230 N (51.7 lbf). As you might guess, the stock parts are pretty hard to fine in the USA and are pretty costly if you do find them. I looked through the Stabilus catalog and found the SG204037 would work instead and is a fraction of the cost (i bought a pair on Amazon for $19.99). They are specified for a 2000-2006 Ford Taurus or Mercury Sable/Montego. Their specs. are: 22.75" long, 9.125" stroke, 13.689" closed, and 56.1 lbf. Close enough for government work, and a whole lot less costly.

1997 456GT (probably extendable to the entire 456 series): ANCO Wiper Refills 19-24 (600mm) work perfectly with the installed OEM Bosch wiper blades. Refills can be easily sourced on eBay for a pittance.

    Re. p/n 63861700 In post # 341 above.
The install of this part is not as straight forward as initially appears. The part is BMW interchangeable as mentioned above. No difference, same piece. The surprise comes upon removing the original piece. Ferrari modified the BMW piece to fit. Enough modifications that begs the question of why they didn’t have one molded unique to their needs. Another example of hand built I guess. Below are pics of the necessary mods to make the part fit. A Dremel tool gets it done in 10-20 mins as a first time diy.
First the edge that fits towards the weather strip is trimmed quite a bit to fit. On the opposite side many of the mold bracing beneath have to be shaved down to match. And a hole must be drilled in the tower portion of the plastic to insert a retaining screw. Amazing that an employee had to cut each of these by hand, 2000 times plus for 575’s alone. Can’t be certain how or if it’s modded for 550’s or 456 but be prepared it’s the same part.
Finally a Scotchbrite rough up of the surface with a coat of black satin finish provides the factory appearance.
Note that the cut up piece in the pics is the OE piece. I’ve noted where mods were made.
