what is the range or reasonable price on these I had the chance a decade ago to grab a 308gt4 for 27k and am kicking myself now!
Looks like the GT4 from the famous Gear Patrol video is up on eBay. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1975-Ferrari-308-Dino-GT4/173529487307?hash=item286729d7cb:g:ZFwAAOSwqsxbmCTa&vxp=mtr no affiliation other than I probably watched this video 100 times while I was searching for my own GT4. Great color.
Description included the following: speedo not working (so mileage ???), engine mounts gone (and sagging engine?), suspension issues, shifting issues, parking brake cable impeded & not working, old paint w/ issues, dented, no tools, and belts done 3 years ago.... One of those where items might be able to be sorted fairly easily... then a good price... or issues start to get pricey and then not so much... My gut says a seller would typically get most issues sorted if the price was reasonable so that a better sales price could be obtained. Choosing not to fix issues like the speedo, engine mounts, shifting and parking brake pre-sale will naturally lead to a lower price offer. I hope the buyer has no other surprises and got a great deal... but my spidey-senses say "caveat emptor" thus the price.
yes its curious that he is an Alfa mechanic by trade and has his own shop but elected not to fix any of those issues himself.
I can’t speak for Anthony, but he is a local guy, and I understand he is quite busy. My guess is that he just doesn’t have time, which is probably the reason for the sale in the first place. He’s a super nice guy if you ever get a chance to meet him, and I hope his car went to someone on here. Meanwhile, my car is still for sale if anyone is interested in a well sorted GT4.
A 1978 car for sale at $199,900... this is the highest price I've ever seen one listed for. https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/ferrari/dino/gt4-badge/
Hi all. I need a little help. I will be driving out about 8 hours each way to go look at this car on Monday. Very excited about it. https://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/cars-for-sale/ferrari/308gt4/2058877.html The owner seems to be very helpful and cooperative but I am worried about a couple things. The main one being that the last major service was done 5 years ago. I know these can get expensive but am unaware how costly these can be for a GT4. What should I expect to pay? Also, if anyone here knows more about this specific car and its owners, I would appreciate any information. Again, they've been very nice and have answered all my questions but the more info the better.
I bought my GT4 from Toronto and sent it down here to California. I purchased it from Rocco at Rocks' Restorations. He is a great Ferrari restorer and knows the GT4 inside out. You would gain a lot of insight by talking to him. He is super friendly and easy to talk to. He may very well know the car. Good luck
I don’t think 5 year old belts are a problem. Just pop the engine cover and look at them if they don’t have a rear cover
