I live in Nassau County on Long Island, NY and am looking to finish my garage high end. Can anyone recommend a good contractor or company that specializes in finishing high end garages - flooring, lifts, etc. Thx!

Unfortunately it doesn’t look like we’re getting any. I can’t seem to find anyone who can do a high end garage renovation.

I understand that but was hoping to find someone who specializes in garages to help with storage and other ideas - I have a general contractor who does great work but am looking for a garage specialist.

i used prestige ,overall pretty good experience, they do not do lifts, or paint, or garage doors. i had separate contractors for the lifts, paint and doors.so they did cabinets, flooring and slat walls for me.also a bike rack. a little pricey but i am happy with the result.

Thx - appreciate the response. But I checked out Prestige Garage and they have a C- rating from the BBB - some horror stories on there - so I can’t work with them. But again, thanks for the recommendation. Ultimately I may just have to go with a contractor who doesn’t specialize in garages which isn’t ideal but no other choice.

Perhaps peruse the garage thread here and the many garage websites and plan and ‘self contractor’ it in your own design. That way YOU won’t miss a thing in terms of what goes in and where it goes. You are probably going to want to add to and modify anyone else’s design anyway.

Reviving this thread since I'm looking for someone to redo my cement garage floor.
Not sure if I should go with Epoxy or a RaceDeck type floor.
I welcome opinions on the type of floor to use and any recommendations for who I should consider using to do it.
    Thanks

Stay away from race deck if it’s a garage thats used daily as water and snow will get underneath the tiles and smell…

With potential water and snow being a consideration my concern is that Epoxy might get very slippery ??

Go with textured Epoxy, but don't use Grey. You can't find anything you drop.

One professional contractor I'm talking with ( who's business is doing only Epoxy floors ) says he doesn't have to do anything to the expansion joints and that nothing is laid down over the cement prior to the epoxy and that the epoxy chemically bonds directly to the cement.
    Does that sound right ?

I will take your comment of expansion joint as a tooled or saw cut joint in the concrete no more than 1/2 inch or so wide. If you don’t want the joint visible they should be able to mix an epoxy in such a way that it is a little flexible and infill the joint. This is done in terrazzo floors a lot in commercial buildings. (Terroxy joint filler hardener is one such product)

As far as bonding to the concrete preparation work is key. Take the proposed product and look at the manufactures product data and see what is required. Some have primers, some are acid washes etc... You may want to ask them about bead blasting the floor with a shoot peen machine. Super quick and leaves a sand blasted finish for flooring to adhere to.

Being in a garage you may want to think about UV resistance coatings pending how much your door is open. Sika has some good products.
