I only know the ts and tb Challenge versions. What is the deal with that one? Anyone any infos? Thanks in advance
I have serial#'s from both EU and US cars... For example ZFFRG35AXR0097938 GTB Challenge #193/222 I thought the GTB's are all non US-versions?
s/n 97938 is a '94 US 348 challenge tb, not a GTB. It would be #X of 32, not #193/222. It was raced as #11 in the US series in '94 and '95. The GTB was a Euro version that was not imported to the US. One difference is it had the 119H motor vs the 119G in the US cars. The GTB/GTS was offered only in '93 and '94. I would have to check my regulations manuel, but IIRC the GTB/GTS with the 119H motor was not allowed to run in the US challenge series. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. I will check the regs tonight.
Wierd - I thought that the s/n was right... Maybe they mixed it?! Anyway - so the 348 GTB/GTS Challenge is basically the EU pendant to the US 348 tb/ts Challenge? I remember a 348 Challenge series in Italy, Germany+Europe since 1993...
97938 was originally a US challenge car. May not have a #'d plate. Otherwise you are correct. According to the '96 regulations (I would assume similar in '94 and '95) "all American-specification Ferrari 348 tb and ts models including SS" were eligible for the US series. "European-specification cars converted to US specs generally won't be eligible, but will be considered on an idividual basis." The US series started in '94 and ran until '96. In '94 Ferrari made 45 (32tb and 13ts) 348 "factory challenge" cars. These were for the US market only. The remainder (majority) of the cars that raced the series were converted street cars from '89 - '93. I don't know of any "factory challenge" GTB/GTS for the Euro market. As far as I know they were all converted street cars.
OK, thanks for the info on the GTB/GTS Challenge cars! But - basically the 45 "Factory Challenge" cars were also converted in a way... I read, that they were delivered in street legal trim and had a kit to be installed for race use!?
Is someone able to complete this lists? tb Challenge: (32 known s/n) 97831 97869 (#21/32) 97938 97965 (#09/32) 97985 (#24/32) 97999 98065 98096 98126 (#25/32) 98197 (#02/32) 98247 98248 (#32/32) 98399 (#04/32) 98432 98452 (#05/32) 98498 (#10/32) 98578 (#06/32) 98591 (#11/32) 98671 (#08/32) 98695 (#16/32) 98731 (#01/32) 98757 98767 (#12/32) 98791 (#26/32) 98806 98817 98832 (#03/32) 98843 (#18/32) 98855 98856 98857 (#30/32) 98858 (#28/32) ts Challenge: (12 known s/n) 98076 (#01/13) 98106 98147 98159 98176 (#08/13) 98188 (#04/13) 98389 98414 98431 (#10/13) 98466 (#12/13) 98487 (#02/13) 98497 Thanks in advance

Sorry to dredge up an old thread, but I keep seeing 24 of 32 and such listed. Does anyone of any kind of supporting documentation to corroborate the "number" for each car?
For the US market - 45 1994 Challenge cars from the factory. 32 were TBs 13 were TSs. There was a separate option for the challenge kit, which was to be installed by the dealer. That included seats, bolt in roll cage, etc.
Yes, but my question is when we identify cars as number 24 of 32 or whatever the respective number is. How are we verifying that number?
I've never seen or heard of the Challenge cars being individually numbered e.g. 1/100, 33/100, 56/100 and etc. However, they did number the 348 GT Competizione. https://myferrari.page.tl/Ferrari-348-GT-Competizione.htm Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
There's an identification plate in the front of the passenger side door jam. It has the VIN and number xx of xx. This plate is not on all of the 45. It was a dealer installed plate and some didn't install it or lost it.
Okay, I missed that, per the link above: Ferrari 348 "Factory Challenge" Ferrari made a limited edition road car for the North American marked in 1994. This was a road car referred to the 348 factory Challenge. The painted lower panels were carried over from the Serie Speciale. The wider offset wheels were not. Only 45 factory Challenge cars were made, 32 TB's and 13 TS' with serial number from 97869 to 98906. These cars came in street trim. The cars came with numbered plates on the right front door frame: Serie Challenge 348 TB #xx of 32 or Serie Challenge 348 TS #xx of 13.
