I love the guy in the background mid way through commenting they need to go from a roll instead of a standstill. Then they did. No difference in outcome.

That Corvette is like 600 ilbs heavier and down by around 80. Not even a contest.

The mid engine C8 is the only Corvette that will have anywhere near a fighting chance.

The McLaren 720 is by far the most sand bagged car of all time.

All true about the Corvette much heavier -- but that's GM-Chevrolet's fault. They keep selling the name, not an innovation. I was told 2 decades ago that American car manufacturers just never really upgrade their infrastructure -- they just pop on new wings or seats, and keep going . If GM-Chev. wants to compete in the future, they need to quit adding HP to the engine, go mid-engine (instead of bluffing it year to year), AND UPGRADE TO CARBON FIBER core &/or other weight-saving materials. Of course, that would take a massive investment in the infrastructure of the company (and with union wages and all, well ....)

The 720s just walked away from the ZR1 even after the ZR1 jumped it. Amazing car.

Isn't the 720s almost 3 times the price of the Vette and the Demon? Just sayin...

Not the point with the demon, it's not a value comparison. You have a purpose built 1/4 mile track car vs a super car. You would not expect the agile sports car to beat the Demon at it's own game. For entertainment and interesting to see how they stack up win or lose.

And if we're just sayin, we might as well say the 720s is competitive with cars that are 3(+) times it's price too. As the Brits would say... it's a remarkable piece of kit.

Turbo charge any well designed engine and you have a rocket ship. Not impressed.

Power is one thing, how it puts it down is another. There are many other factors that make it a rocket ship.

Agree. This isn't just a matter of power to weight or turbo HP. When I first drove one I was amazed with the amount of grip and ability to put power on the ground - this car hooks up like my 911 TurboS which is insane considering it's rwd.

Agreed Mclaren made a Swiss watch of a turbo car. Just listening it go through the gears you know it’s an amazing overall set up. Lightning fast and almost perfect efficiency as it used its technology. My point is there is almost no end on how much you can derive out of a turbocharged car. Make your choice, 800, 1000, 1200, 1500 HP? If you put a set of wings on it the thing will fly. I value most the kind of performance the 720S makes out of a naturally aspirated engined car. Not an easy task and soon a diying breed.

It is much more efficient to use Turbos and the software and tuning is so good that you can get 20MPG and then run 1/4 in less than 10 seconds. No way to do that with a NA motor. Wait until the hybrid technology is utilized - more efficient power.

As an owner of two hybrids it’s my favorite method of power delivery. I can’t wait for Lambo and Mac to go Hybrid.

Lambo is working on a new system to harness and distribute the power, it will be super cool.
