I am thinking to get a 458 spider soon. I prefer to get a 2015 model because I was told ,always is better the last year of the production .I don’t know if there is any difference, improvements, from 2012 models compare to 2014-2015 . I am looking for a red or yellow 2014-2015 458 spider loaded with carbon fibers, one owner only, from a Ferrari dealer and with 2.000 miles or less. I know will be difficult to find the perfect car. I just noticed for sale a 2012 , one owner only , in blue Scozia exterior and sabbia/blue interior colors , a lot of carbon fiber, with only 650 miles. That car had a $363.000 MSRP and now on sale for $249.000 The car looks beautiful ,elegant, but I’m wondering about the 2012 year production and a color difficult to mantein clean and may be too dark for Florida. Any thoughts?
My experience is with a 2012 458 spider with ~ 4000 miles I purchased 3 years ago. I just sold it with 21,000 miles with no problems of any sort during my 3 years of ownership. That said , before that car I bought a 2007 430 spider that was 5 years old at the time with ~ 5000 miles. After 6 months of ownership I had 14,000 $ worth of repairs. Why ? Because the car wasn’t driven. I would consider a car that has a few more miles unless it’s going to be a garage queen. And I have owned three Nero Ferraris while living in Florida. Best , Kirk.
I have a 2012 spider with 29k miles. No problems. Get the color and options you want. The year isn’t a big deal IMVHO.
I sold it to my daughter’s boss for 170k perfect no story car 335k list with complete service records too.
I honestly feel so bad for someone who bought a 363k car. Let it literally sit in the garage for 6 years ( with the exception of pulling it out every now and then for a wash) and then selling it for 249k What was the point???? I don't feel for him because of the money he lost, I feel for him for the fact that he had such a great car just sitting there and was afraid to drive it so he can maintain value and yet still lost so much money. Having all that said, I would suspect he rolled the odometer back. I mean seriously..... Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Maybe he had a stable of crazy exotics and distributed his attention across them all. I know that was the case with the one I picked up. Or, perhaps he has ten houses and kept this Ferrari at the one he only uses once a year.
I think any car in those years 2012-2015 will be fine. They are all the same cars mechanically so it is just a matter of finding what you like. What is most important is getting a good inspection of the car before you buy. Other than that, the cost of the car will reflect the year and options that it has. So buy the color of car that you want and the options that you care most about. Good luck in your search but you should probably hurry as the summer is almost over.
The only thing that is ever good about that car is the blu scozia color which is perfect under the sun off Florida. 600 miles in a 6 years old car. You are asking for trouble
