    Hi Guys

    I recently imported a 1985 308QV from the States to the UK. Here when you buy a UK car you can see the number of previous owners listed on the Title/ Log Book (v5).

    My question is, is there any way of finding out how many previous owners on my US car ?

    Since it is apparently a USA car, plug the VIN into this site and it should give you some info on sales and location history. Hopefully they have a bit of history. A CarFax would show the number of owners, but not their names.

    I tried the link but it couldn't find my vin

    I have run a CarFax on the 308, everything checks out and all the mileage is as expected but it doesn't have number of owners. The carafe i did for my 99 355 spider again from the US showed number of owners.

    Is there some date limit carafe can go back to with this being an 85 car ?

    I believe that CarFax goes back to 1981. There was a thread about a 1980 308 GTSi this morning that had a CarFax that began in 2018. That car probably slipped thru the cracks since it was a 1980. Some things that can keep a car off CarFax are a VIN less than 17 digits, no public accidents, and the owner taking the car to independent shops for maintenance.     The UK DVLA data is not always accurate either - when I researched my car I could only find 3 previous owners whereas the V5 said 7. Two are accounted for by personalised plate changes, and when I queried the other two with the DVLA they amended their information to 5.
