After meeting a lot of enthusiasts and reading the forums I see very different approaches that people take in buying/ selling their cars. Some buy and drive very little until the "next best" thing comes out while others drive their cars until the wheels fall off.

I personally have been buying cars routinely, once a year or so, and often drive it, track it, mod it until I have gotten my fill and then sell it to buy something else. Rinse and repeat. There are some trade-offs with this as I often obsess over the odometer, minor scratches/ dents/ dings, and often worry about resale after adding 10k miles on a car in a year. However, I still have car buying ADD because I love experiencing the different cars- the research, the search, the test drives, etc..

Do any of you feel the same? For those that buy and keep, what was the reason why?

I find that as I drive a car, rather than get bored, I discover nuances that intrigue me & make me want to drive them more. Paint chips, bolster wear & such become a badge of honor rather than a worry. And, as this progresses, I tend to get sentimental about the car, and the stable grows from n to n+1. Couple that with a "it's already paid for" mentality and the likelihood the car is worth much more to me than I could ever realize in a trade-in, I find it hard to imagine a realistic scenario in which I would replace the cars I have, rather than add a new one...T

when it comes to my car, I usually use it for a few years, I take care of it, dont like it when there are too many people next to it or touching it and I do worry about road chips, but I do drive it, I expect to put around 6-7k miles on my car this year.
having that said, when the replacement to the 488 comes out, I will get that itch again and will start planning for the day I will go to my dealer and trade my car for a new one.
every person has things that excite them.
for some its women, money, off-roading.... for me, it's a new car.
so I keep my self focused and not let any other things distract me, and I get my fill at the dealer every few years.
I hate selling cars privately though, I will just trade it at the dealer, even if i get less for it.

Some cars are just "keepers". Like my dream car I hung up on my wall as a kid. Yes, I love the "hunt" of a good daily driver, but do not experience ADD or OCD over. It's usually a major repair that decides the fate of my DD.

I used to buy a new car every year but as I get older I'm tending to drive them more and keep them longer....

I suppose I am a bit of everything about, some cars (like the 911 I built or the 4C) I have are keepers. With others they fill a need, I am intrigued by the engineering, the look, or amazed by the way they drive. I almost never leave a car the way it came from the factory (do not consider any car done the way I want it), and part of the thrill is getting the car to where it is good for me. I never think about what it will be worth (or do I care) to the next owner, let the next owner deal with that.

Some people like constant rotation of cars because they have something to look forward to and it’s always neat buying new toys to play with. If I had the money I’d probably do the same, but every new model refresh seems to work for me. Over the years I’ve changed my mindset from having a car to get to where I am going to having a car to enjoy the drive itself, life is too short not to.

I never get bored of what I have no matter how long I've owned or how many times I've driven it. I am gracious and appreciative for being able to own a Ferrari knowing there are much less fortunate people.
