No, it’s not the same thing.

    They are the FIAT heirs.

They are not, for example, the Jeep heirs nor the Chrysler heirs. (As the term is generally used in describing a company’s founder’s offspring)

The Elkann, are 'part' of the FIAT heirs, not the only ones.

Yes, there are over 100 heirs of Fiat.

The man is reportedly seriously ill from several news sources. Did you just make up these rumours for a bit of attention? Unless you have something more substantial, you should do the decent thing and delete this deeply distasteful post.

I refer you to my previous post, Nr 46.

PS: Attention on an internet forum? To what end?

Keep in mind, innovation and engineering typically does not come from the CEO. Sure, the decision on product volumes and general landscape does, but the talent that drives the passion is down the food chain.

True, but the President/Board/CEO gives the direction and approves or dismisses projects.

    Fully agree.

But, I don't like CEO's getting all the credit. They don't design or form the clay models. I wish the actual designers and engineers got more credit - without them, the company would not exist.

I already read that before posting. So your excuse is: I didn't know any better, so I just made some stuff up? LOL.

I am with you all the way, sir!
Personally, I like to know who is the engine specialist, or the chassis specialist, or the chief test driver, etc, behind a car. Too hard to do when it comes to mass manufacturers, but a bit easier with supercar makers. Not only do these people give you a hint about the philosophy behind a car, but they can also tell you amazing stories.

For example, when I asked Valentino Balboni, of Lamborghini fame, about his favourite make of supercars, he told me that they all have their pros and cons, but they are all amazing!!! What a gentleman!!!

I am not making up excuses. When the first communiques came out, I was very suspicious, as it sounded like corporate BS to me. The next ones though made it clear that Mr Marchionne is gravely ill, which is extremely unfortunate.

PS: You seem to stalk my every post and reply with vitriolic comments. Is there something wrong with your love life, mate?

Incorrect. There is no Ferrari President. There is a Board of Directors and a Chairman. They appoint a CEO who has the main executive powers in the company.

Up until now there was one. His name was Sergio.

Wrong (again). Marchionne was the Chairman of the Board of Directors and the CEO. Two distinct roles performed by the same person. Just look at the 2017 annual report.

As you can see over here, Elkann is the EXECUTIVE Chairman of the new hierarchy: http://corporate.ferrari.com/en/about-us/executive-officers
They don't call him a President anymore, but it's the same thing.

Yes. All CEOs are idiots. If they would only get out of the way.

    Sarcasm.

Elkann runs EXOR the family holding company that is the shareholder of Ferrari and FCA among others so Chairman is the appropriate role for him at Ferrari. What he has achieved with EXOR is impressive. He did it with SM’s help.

    Sad to hear.

I'm a strong proponent of Universal Health Care for just this reason. There is no such thing as "routine surgery". If they cut you open, you could die.

    Godspeed, sir. Godspeed.

Wow, can't post a comment, and everybody is in an uproar. Cool it guys, just the facts, politely.
The official story, otherwise this site is risking of becoming obnoxious. Fight with your better 1/2, not a post about Marchionne!
Is he related to any of you? No? Then.....
    Go fight somewhere else.

    Maybe in "technical". :)
