    Could be...

I think the QBs are at the next level however, I am emotionally attached to the football hero’s of old and the “old game”

How many of them can you count on to win? I know you guys think he is a cheater, but surely he’s not the only one. I’m talking about a Montana or a Elway who can be down 7 with two minutes to go and 80 yards for the score and win.

Umm, Did you watch the Superbowl this year?

Soccer won't ever become big in the US because the lack of viability of tv ads. Sure in person attendance might be high, but the real money comes from the TV contracts. The TV contracts are driven by ad revenue and with a 45 min half with no breaks for commercials, it will never pull in the big dollars needed to become super popular.

E-Sports will continue to grow in popularity as they are more accessible to more folks and can be better tailored to be more fun to watch.

    Actually, I didn't.

The NFL today is boring. Dink, dink, dink.

BTW, thinking about this, it dawned on me the two things keeping the NFL going are fantasy football and gambling. What do you want to bet the NFL will want a slice of that pie? That is, they will require casinos and online fantasy group to pay licensing fees to use team and player names. Also, now that online betting is legal, I can see them offering an app to make side bets at the game.

    Here, piggy, piggy, piggy.

Probably true but this is actually what drew me into the sport. About 12 years ago I was dating an Eagles fan, so I took her to a game when they were down here playing the Redskins. For about $350 per ticket we sat there completely bored out of our minds as absolutely nothing happened for long stretches of time over the course of 3+ hours. Shortly afterward I went to a Wizards game for about $30 per ticket and while it was definitely more entertaining, basketball doesn't interest me since scoring is so easy, which removes all the drama from the game. A few weeks later I reluctantly got dragged to a DC United game. I spent $15 and had the best time I've ever had at a sporting event and have been hooked ever since.

Given the degree to which our lives are inundated with advertising, you'd think that having 90 minutes of uninterrupted play without ads popping up everywhere would be appealing, but apparently Americans love watching commercials.

Rodgers and Big Ben have done it. But if you are comparing these guys to the greatest QB of all time (Brady) than they all come up a bit short.

Brady is the greatest of all time. Done the dirty with several different lines. I'm not a homo, but I love that guy...

Rogers for sure. He has smoked many teams in the final seconds with those darn Hail Marys he throws. Being a Lions fan I know those ALL TOO WELL!

Soccer is definitely growing. I went to an Atlanta United game a couple months ago and the stadium was packed. It was at the new Mercedes Benz stadium and I was shocked how full it was and how rowdy the fans were getting. I was expecting a relaxed night but everyone was standing and getting into the game. I'd love to see soccer grow here but unless more kids focus on it past grade school, it won't happen.

CTE mania is real and it's going to take a heavy toll on the NFL. My kids are 12 and 14 and will never play football-I held out hope for years but my wife squashed that out a couple of years ago and she's right it's all very real. We don't have any friends who have kids who play at this point and that's a ticking bomb for the NFL.

I think a lot of people watch the NFL that is not their team because they are wagering on it. And I think the NFL knows this which is why they have Draftkings.

Like I said, if it wasn’t for gambling and fantasy football, the NFL would be in the dumps. My bet is the next step is the NFL will sue casinos and fantasy sites for not paying for the use of team names. I’m not kidding.

The NFL is going to get into more trouble this year.

If you all thought the catch rule was confusing, wait until you see the new helmet penalty controversy this coming season.

This is mostly how I feel about football - not interested. I didn't play, but never loved the game, but did enjoy it watching it. I prefer watching youth games now.

On a broader scale, I think all 3 are in some trouble. In fact, I'd go so far to say professional sports across the board in the US are in trouble. They'll never go away, but participation numbers are down quite a bit for more than just the big 3 (including wrestling, soccer, etc.).

There are many reasons for it, but society has shifted and organized sports seem to be losing ground.

Least of their problems. If viewership keeps dropping, the next TV contract will be a bust. Remember, each team gets over 1/4 of a billion just from TV.

Boring games leads to a decline in viewership. For those of us who don't play fantasy football or bet, the game is losing its appeal.

With the kickoff rules they have now, Devin Hester would be a nobody . . . and that's a damn shame.

The NFL is stuck between a rock and hardplace because of the head injury lawsuits.

The NFL has the furthest to fall and I'm afraid that's what is happening. It's clearly underway as we speak.
