RIP Sergio
Very sad and unfortunate. Can't say I liked all his brand/model policy's nor the expelling of italian design houses at Ferrari, especially Pininfarina. But the most important thing; as someone who grew up in other cultures, he probably did what no other Italian could do, he made some very hard decisions and delivered by saving Fiat and it's brands from bancrupcy and positioned it to where it is today, a very viable business. Aetatis progressu. RIP Sergio Marchionne
I was privileged to meet and be photographed with Mr. Marchionne (together with Piero Ferrari) at a Ferrari event. He was a warm human being. RIP Sergio.
My first Italian car was a FIAT I got in 1975. I never thought I'd see them sold in the US again when they left. Always get a subtile smile when I see one now. RIP and thanks.
Sad to hear of his passing. I think FCA (and also Ferrari) will miss him. Not a universally held view but I think he did some great things for the FCA businesses that might not be apparent on the surface. Whatever the truth, I hope his family can find some peace from God.
Of all of the photos that people have been using in their tributes, this one ranks as a fave. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Very well said - changing the internal culture in FIAT at the time he took over was more monumental than overcoming the financial issues....of course both were needed - but the significance of his accomplishment was truly amazing.
