Reselling Ferraris

I want to buy wrecked ferraris to repair them and resell them then.

What do you think of this business?

 

Lots of people already do this, profitability all depends on your personal situation and context. The community would need more info. Basically are you one guy with his personal carport in the apartment complex or the owner of many repair shops across the world?

I think you see where I’m going with this, I hope.

I wrecked an exotic and after hearing the words "total loss" I felt as though the weight of the world have been lifted from my shoulders. NDW I wouldn't want to live with the multitude of imperfections/problems associated with a rebuilt exotic.

 

As with any business it depends;
1.how bad was the damage?
2.What does the wreck cost?
3.What do the new parts cost?
4. How much time will it take to do the work?
5. What can you get for the repaired car?

It won't be a hobby after the first one if you lose money on the first one and it won't be a business unless 1-5 are answered satisfactorily.

Doesn't sound as though Fchat guys are prospects.

 

I didn't realize trolls actually had businesses.

KK - I see by your profile that this is your first post on Fchat and that your is 31 years old, suggest you try reading some of the threads on Fchat to get a better idea of the Ferrari audience you will be trying to sell repaired Fcars.

Do you have any business experience or mechanical experience (Ferrari would be best) and an unlimited amount of capital? Without at least two of the three you have zero chance. Any new business has a plethora of hurdles but this one may have even more. But I sincerely think the business would not be profitable in the near duration say a few years until you learned the issues of the business.

I would suggest you first try low end cars where the future buyers would not be so picky about the repaired cars that were totaled or severally damaged. You of coarse realize selling any car with a salvage title is at best very, very difficult well a Fcar is likely at least twice as hard.

give me s 2018 488 right now for 100k with a salvage title and ill pass.

and im pretty sure it will cost more than 100k to fix a salvage ferrari (in most cases at east)

 

If the price is low enough, I’d buy it as a parts car.

 

I think it's a great idea. You buy a wrecked 458 for.. let's say.. $15,000? You put brand new parts in it like a new door and front fender lets say... for what... $5,000..

And you sell it for $210,000! Because it has "all new parts" that are better than old parts and it's been "freshly refurbished"! FYI you can take black electrical tape and put it over warning lights on the dash to save money....

Some wrecked Ferrari's are worth more in spare parts than fix and resell!

If I had the time, and the specialized tools and I got the car reasonable and it was a model I wanted in the color combos I wanted and I could get the parts I needed and there wasn’t serious damage I’d consider doing one for myself to keep.

But the reality is most salvage exotics sell pretty high, I’ve seen it. Most of the cars that are “reasonably” priced buy it now have a lot of hidden suprises waiting for the potential buyer. Most of the decent rebuilders sell for very near what a no stories car sells for albeit probably a no stories car that needs a lot of missed maintainance and care.

I’m not saying there aren’t deals to be had, there are threads in the various sub forums that have the stories with photos to back it up but the odds are slim. And if I recall the cars usually wind up close to what a no stories car would have cost to begin with. This is why most people shy away from branded title exotics because there is really no telling what was done, who did the repairs and how well the repairs are done. Plus the car is now worth far less then a no stories car.

If you want to do one for yourself that is one thing but to do it as a business there are a lot of hurdles you’d have to over come and even then you would sit on the car for a long time before you’d find a buyer. And on newer cars there are some parts that by all accounts only an f dealer can get unless you get the parts used and then it’s a crap shoot if they are any good plus you’d have to have experience with the advanced systems ect ect.

It’s angood idea in theory but in actual application probably not the best idea. I personally only look at salvage cars for myself and only look at cars I could reasonably repair myself. On regular cars, trucks and mini vans it’s generally a cheep way to come up with a newer ride and work at your own pace. With an exotic no so much in my humble opinion though full disclosure I’ve never tried with an exotic.
