Hello all, Long-time Porsche owner, but I've finally made enough money that I can justify buying a Ferrari, a life-long dream of mine. I'm a little surprised by the price gap between 458 Spiders and Coupes, at least in my area. I was hoping to find a Spider under $200k. Any thoughts on the subject of the coupe vs. the Spider? Somehow the thought of the top down on a sunny day appeals to me more than burning around a track. I will search the forum, but any advice for a first-time buyer? Thanks.
The Spider is the route to go - you are essentially getting a hard top convertible. You can drive with the top open or not at your whim. Under $200k for a coupe will be hard to find especially if you want low miles, great condition, and a car from 2012 and newer.
I've had coupe & Spiders. Once you experience a Ferrari with the Top Down well.....Nothing compares!!!
I think you can get a 15-20,000 mile spider for 200k or less . Keep looking and make offers. I sold mine 335 list with ~ 21,000 miles and a clean car fax for much less than 200. Good luck with your hunt , Kirk.
FWIW there is a 2012 red tan 4000 mile car loaded up with options for 214k at Ferrari Palm Beach. Probably could be had around 200k. I have no affiliation with the car. I can say that I purchased my old 458 spider from them in a seamless transaction.
Well, I drove a McLaren 12s and a 458 Spider today. I loved the former but was absolutely mesmerized by the latter. Now to make it all work...
I had a 458 Spider... loved it! Roof up glass down and that engine noise... unbelievable! and to me looks better than the coupe version. However... the 488 I recently bought I went with the coupe... wasn’t the 30k gap in price, just simply love the look of the coupe Hot sunny day in the coupe just as rewarding for me as the Spider
Close to having this wrapped up! If I can get the PPI in, I might be picking it up by the end of the week!
Spider. Grigio Silverstone and Cuoio. Daytona seats. Pretty much everything that I wanted! It is in for its PPI today!
Coming from a coupe, its Spider all the way - couldn't be happier with my choice. (See my post today) Hope the PPI goes to plan and it all works out for you, good luck.

Congrats on finding your car and enjoy. I think you pick the right car - spider. You have the flexibility, but you will find that every time you drive, the top will always be down! The color combination sounds great so please post pics! Also, you should be really happy that you did not buy the Mac.
