I have another project you can have if you want it! I have another Deagostini Model Space Countach kit that needs to be built, but Id like to change the color. I was thinking of doing it white with red, but then I thought to just do it like Walter Wolfs blue Countach. This is my first one I built. Or I can build it, maybe send you parts just need paint if you want?

Jon, I can see you using 10W-50 in the sublime cool climate of Marin County.

FWIW, the Wolfman liked Elf also!

Interestingly, Automobili Lamborghini SpA had a contract with Agip @ the time.

Same here, and indeed a number of cars taken care of by Dugan Specialties, FWIW my F40 client & Indycar race driver Graham Rahal drew my attention to the brand

It depends, is the car a 25th or a QV. They are different.

Also, a common mistake to avoid is using pure racing oil for an extended period of time.

Many car enthusiasts assume "racing" always means better! We need detergent for extended use ;)

I think a partial synthetic is a good idea for these engines

The main reason I went with the PennGrade was not that it was a partial synthetic, but that it has zinc and a few other additives that help keep from wiping out a cam lobe in a older application. This oil contains ZDDP ( which is Zinc Dialkyl Dithiophosphate). More about that can be found https://zddplus.com/zddp-faqs/

And yes this is a detergent oil. It's a Dino oil. I researched it pretty thoroughly before switching from Mobil 1 in my 930, fwiw.

  18. I have never had problem, but try to be careful. Always make sure it latches on all four post before walking under it. Watch the cables underneath and make sure they stay on the pulleys.

I put a small bottle of ZDDP in mine at every oil change.

That is GOOD ADVICE for anyone who wants to preserve the valvetrain of an older car.

Liqui Moly & Mobil 1 carry a few high performance full synthetic oils with nominal values of phosphorous and zinc between 1200 & 1300 ppm, which is completely sufficient.

I didn't see a 10/15/20W-50 listed on their website, where can you find this?

Likewise! Best of both worlds, provided the ZDDP value is already low, such as Liqui Moly 10W-60.

I have still been running AGIP in my car. I had several cases of the Sint 2000 10w-40 that I was using. AGIP had stopped producing the Sint 2000 10w-50 blend they call out in the owners manual and engine bay stickers, so when I contacted them to ask them for a comparable product after I purchased my car in 2009 they suggested their Sint 2000 10w-40 product.

They have now eliminated Sint 2000 altogether and updated it to what they call i-Sint. I contacted AGIP last year to ask what new i-Sint blend was comparable to the older Sint 2000 blend. They said it is the i-Sint 10w-40. However, make sure you dont get the “4AM” variety. That is for newer American cars. As he told me “4AM is the for America cars without the 4AM is the Euro version. Easier to have to you buy direct than try to update amazon with new products”.

For some reason they do not carry the Euro (non-4AM) version on the USA Amazon site, but it is available from the UK site and directly from ENI. They don’t show it on their website you have to call customer service and I have no idea how much they charge for it.

Sounds like everyone here is happy with the Brad Penn product, I guess I’ll switch to that since shipping from AGIP can get expensive for 2 case (12 each)! :)

    Mike

P.S. Here is the data sheet from ENI on the new i-Sint 10w-40 blend.
