    Dear Gentleman,

When driving my Mondial 3.2 Cabriolet I noticed the fog lamp switch is not working (up in the top left of the dash, next to the trunk switches) and the lights are not illuminating. They used to work as I always use the fog lights in tandem with the regular head lights......

Being that the Mondial has no daytime running lights, I often turn on the "parking lights" located in the center console (between the glove box and gas flap switches) to illuminate the yellow lights located in the bumper housing right above the fog lamps. (just background info, in case there is a connection)

In concert with the fog lamps not working, the instrument panel lights have stopped working also. The dimmer switch located just above the mileage trip reset switch has no affect on the brightness and the instrument lights are completely out.

Do any of these things relate to each other?

I pulled off the plastic cover to the fuse/relay panel and have physically pulled out the 15 amp "fog and panel light" fuse to inspect it. No break or scorch marks. I also did the same for the 7.5 amp "instrument - glove box" fuse with the same results. Glove box opens nicely and the map light inside is functional.

Am I missing the fuse? Everything used to work and I cant attribute the loss of lights to any recent repair or work done on the car that might have caused a short .......I had the a/c compressor worked on as well as the fuel pump, fuel accumulator and filter replaced. Did we damage an electrical component I did not mention?

Any insight would be helpful. Thank you in advance for your help!

It sounds very similar to a problem I have had. The only difference is that if I turned the marker lights on the "park" warning light would illuminate, and I had no marker lights (sides). The tail lights would illuminate but with the parking lights rather than the correct, somewhat brighter bulbs.

For me the issue was a burned track on the circuit board. This track goes from fuse 17 to terminal 3 on connection block "J", which is one of the two stacked ones at the lower left of the panel (You have the wring diagram, right? See Figure 10 ) Try jumping from the fuse holder to the pin on block J to test. From there the power eventually goes to the hazard light switch, then back up to the dash lights (I think--it's confusing at best)

I annotated the diagrams to try to understand what is going on, and I can share these with you if you wish--let me know. You have to accept that I may be wrong and that there are highlighted wire paths that weren't of any consequence. I think it is a reasonable guess you may have a similar problem, the fuse board is a known weak link.

    Good luck.

    Hi,

I had a couple of main dash switch issues with my Q.V. I removed them and redid wiring, one or more had a loose(r) switch cover and with that removed I could tinker - I think a loose contact. Another I had to switch out, but the ‘gubbins’ was similar (probably boot/bonnet release), so I got a used one and stuck the correct face plate back on.

I would remove the switch and test that to see if the lights still work.

I would start by removing and re-seating the white connectors on the fuse box. Make sure the contacts inside the white connectors are not bent open. If so, you can bend them back. Apply some contact cleaner, but make sure it's that type that won't damage plastic.

What are "white connectors on the fuse box"?

These, I stole the photo from another thread. They hold all the female wiring connectors together then press onto the banks of male connectors on the boards. Sort of mini-spade connectors.

Also, check that the instrument panel dimmer control is not turned down. Down (off) is fully clockwise. Bright is counterclockwise. Opposite what you would think. Or what I would think.
