I have an offer from the dealer that the F12 and 488 Spider are on the same price. F12 model year 2017 and 488 Spider model year 2018. Both about having similarity in configurations and both in all new conditioned. I will drive it mostly for pleasure in the weekend and plan to keep it forever .... this is my first Ferrari ....my another sport car is 991 Carrera S which I have had for 5 years and will keep it forever too.
Which one will you choose ?

Thanks you for all your advice.

This isn't even a question, 488 because its a mid engine spider. OK the sound its much better in the F12 but the 488 is faster and much more fun to drive!
Tell us when you close the deal on the 488 ;)

Plus for F12 because it is a V12 and much higher MRSP than than 488 Spider but of course the 488 spider is current model.

The price of 812 is about 35% higher than F12. So when the F12 is current model ( before 812 launch) I think the price is near the current 812.

So I get a value for the F12 but the 488 gtb is current model. Really don’t know which one to choose ...

This may sound too radical a suggestion but if you drive both you could consider buying the one you prefer !

If you can, buy both. I have a 458 and F12. I can’t imagine a better combination. Both amazing cars in their own right and totally different experiences.

Man, crazy hard call. I’m with 4574. You should buy both! :) If that’s not an option, drive both. It’s all in what you want from a car. I have an F12 and a 458 spider, and I love them both for very different reasons. The V12 at 8500 RPM is nothing short of melodious! The car is very refined, and I often refer to it as a wolf in sheep’s clothing. I also love the 458 spider. Top down is a pretty awesome thing! So, it will depend on how important that is to you. I drove a 458 and 488 before buying my F12, which was my first Ferrari ever. If I had to only keep one, it would be my F12. But, personal preference is very different! I see 488’s all the time, but I never see F12’s. All things to consider! Both will make you smile when you walk into the garage.

Good luck! Life is good when this is one of the choices you have to make.

Thanks guys for all your advice ...in my city it is almost near zero chance I will open the hood ...just due I prefer the look of spider to the GTB. I can not afford to buy both at once and do not dare to think when I will buy one again. This one will fulfil many years of my dream. Here the dealer won’t allow any test drive. Maybe my question is better quote as if you can only keep one Ferrari , which one do you choose ? I think this answer will help make up my mind.

F12 V12 is amazing but it’s a GT car heavy With understeering
488 is a better car : mid engine high handling

Again, it really comes down to which features are most important to you. Is a convertible a must have? Do you prefer better sound, such as the V12? The 488 is certainly more nimble, but my F12 is my favorite every time I drive it. It got even better when I lowered it on Novitec springs. My 458 is much more predictable than the F12, and it is los of fun to pitch around a corner and drift a little bit. That really is a hard call. Have the dealer at least let you sit in them and start them if they won’t let you drive either of them. That will at least give you a little more connection with each car to see if that helps sway you either way.

Keep us posted on what you decide. I’m excited for you to get a Ferrari, regardless of which one! It all comes down to which one is the best fit for you.

Seems like most people suggest 488. Probably cause we are on the 458/488 zone :)
However i’d Suggest 488 too cause it’s a more modern car.

I've had both, the F12 is a cruiser with an amazing engine. The 488 is, overall, a more fun sports car. If I had to pick one, think the 488 wins.

I had a GT Ferrari in the Cali T HS and I expect the F12 would be a better version of that but without the drop top option. The 488 Spider has the drop top and more torque plus a better sound (than the Cali T) and handling. It can be driven daily and is more fun to drive than the Cali T was. I have not driven the F12 so I can't speak to it but I don't miss the extra space in the Cali T. I went 488 after spending several months shopping around and looking at both.

I'd choose a 488 GTB over an F12 (which I actually did when I bought my 488...) but I'd take an F12 over a spider.
But as mentioned by others, it really depends on what you're looking after.

You need to drive them. Both different. Hard to imagine a dealer won’t let you take hem around the block for a test drive when you are considering dropping 300 large on a car.

Make the sale continent on a test drive and you will have your answer.

Tough question I would pick the 488 Spider but I love convertibles. However A front engine V12 is what Ferrari DNA all starts with.

I would love to keep my 458 Spider and at some point add a F12.

I had a 997 Turbo that I sold to get into a Ferrari 488gts. Hands down on the 488 choice and it was a no brainer. As a first Ferrari, I wanted to get the full Ferrari experience with the mid engine 488. Going forward I will think of getting an F12 or 812. The v12 GT will be a more elegant and civil cruiser unless you choose to exercise it to its full potential. And then I would add another 911 for daily driving and general aggressive driving. As you will keep your 911, you already have the second part of my plan. So if I were you I would get the 488 first and then the F12.

I really love the V12, but the weight penalty is an issue on tracks. And in Europe (specially in France) it's becoming impossible to drive on the roads (the best you are allowed is cruising), which makes (for me) track use more important.
