Photographed this in 1984 at Calder Park Melbourne Australia Wonder if it’s still in this colour Polarising in the 80’s Absolutely love it Image Unavailable, Please Login
Agree. This is a color many people would hate. But when I saw that LP400 S1 (new car) sell for 1M plus years ago I was not at all surprised. It was absolutely gorgeous And the Countach is such a polarizing car it’s a great choice Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
I love it, always have, even in the 80s! Countachs in a special color are precious, I only know of 4-5 cars in Rame Colorado Metallizzato, and sadly some were changed. I can tell anyone that cares that LP400S S1 1121020 is being restored back to Rame Colorado complete with Bravo wheels in gold and will debut post-restoration at next year's Villa D'Este, you heard it here first.
Still looking for the chassis number of the factory Press Downdraft which was used in a number of speed tests by Road & Track magazine and Sport Auto amongst others, variously seen with both gold & silver wheels, sporting EE plates EE.426.AK, seen here with gold wheels Image Unavailable, Please Login
I briefly had a little bit to do with a Countess Mouldings replica (many years ago now), and at the time I was given to understand that it was considered to be possibly the most accurate replica available anywhere. From memory, it also requires a genuine windscreen with the very faint curve in it - a detail most other replicas miss.
Speaking of color combinations, I am not aware of another black/red/gold wheels combination from the factory besides Phil Robinson's superb HLA12089, can anyone confirm or deny this? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yes I was told the same so purchased a genuine windscreen and fitted perfect except at the top as the roof ran downhill towards the front of the car so I raised the top of the A pillar and roof about 40mm by cutting thought the A pillar and each side where the roof joins the side next to the rear quarter window, so now only have to modify the tops of the door frames sadly Countess shut down due to Dave the owner having a bad accident so I didn't get a chance to order a chassis or window trims. So have to make those parts among many hundred others.

Blue pipes - coming home I took the long way and carved a hillclimb road to further test the new Pirelli Cinturato P7s, I opened the throttle a bit. Image Unavailable, Please Login
The main thing I love about the new P7s are how true the car tracks in a straight line, and of course the grip under lateral load. Of course, steering & suspension need to be optimum Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi Joe' have you had to have the geometry adjusted to suit the characteristics of the new p7's at all. They do look yummy.
I didn't have to, post-restoration the car was set up to factory specification based on the old P7s we were running, the new P7s are essentially the same design & tread-pattern except for the superb & superior modern rubber compound they've used. It feel like its on rails, kudos to Pirelli, they hit this one out of the park as far as I'm concerned, I'm very happy.
Carrera GT, a well known neighbour on the road, awesome car but delicate to drive http://www.countach.ch/stmoritz2.html
Between the Downdraft and the Carrera GT, some nice automotive sounds were heard along our Pacific Coast Highway today
Also, they are cars whose sheer presence on the road is something special as evidenced by the reactions of pedestrians and other road users. FWIW I can immediately think of @ 4 people who own the Downdraft & Carrera GT combination, amongst other cars. Meanwhile, just sitting there in the garage, anyone can be forgiven for thinking the brutal beauty of the Downdraft might possibly be peerless Image Unavailable, Please Login
Pretty much the perfect combo. Plus an F40...... To me, they each represent the best of Two eras of supercars, the last of the Carb cars, the last of the true analogue NA cars. Bright futures no doubt. Back to back them and you will be surprised as how much fun a DD experience is in comparison. Different but maybe better?? On the road at least, the DD gives it a run for its money. Tracks a different story.....
Agreed. Each to their own, but for me, the all-time ultimate Supercar Trifecta between the 3 big makers Lamborghini/Ferrari/Porsche would indeed be Downdraft/CGT/F40. The ultimate 80s-period Lamborghini/Ferrari Supercar duo is Downdraft/288 GTO, a sublime pair in more parallel ways than I can express. Meanwhile, tonight I was sent this inspiring home compound image by the Chairman Emiritus of the DOC, his Lamborghini collection features the famed Bianco/Bianco Downdraft HLA12046 as a pair with the factory's Naples Auto Salon Bianco/Bianco SE30 051. And the Jota, plus more besides. FWIW, he has another Downdraft not in this image, GLA12888, handsome in Nero Tenebre/Nero livery, an opposite nemesis to HLA12046. His collection is like Noah's Ark.
