FIA have formally confirmed that Force India as a result, have lost all Championship Points & RPFI will start with absolutely zilch.

    [AMuS]

Mercedes said they would decide on Friday morning whether they will use Spec 3 this weekend. But AMuS heard that it is pretty certain that it will debut this weekend. And apparently on both cars and not just Bottas.

    and

"Ferrari’s customer teams have tested the Spec 3 engine in Hungary. We hear that they were especially impressed by the quali mode. They couldn‘t show the potential in qualifying because it rained."

This was always a possibility with the team administration. This was put out very early on in the move to administration.

Perhaps this is a silly question, but I’ll ask it.

If the team loses their Championship points, do the drivers lose theirs also? Or do they retain their points in the WDC, albeit driving for a ‘new’ team that is starting from zero?

I hope that's a silly question, but I don't know either. Don't remember a previous situation like this.

Never mind, I found the answer on the F1 website. Ocon and Perez keep their points in the drivers’ championship.

I wonder if this was a typically capricious and arbitrary decision by FIA or if this is standard practice by rule or by custom.

I believe it's a rule (something similar in other sports e.g. football in the UK - see Glasgow Rangers for example). However, I'm not really sure what the purpose is supposed to be and it doesn't seem to make much sense (or even less sense) in this case.

I guess they should revise the name to NO RACING POINT FORCE INDIA.

That's gotta hurt in the pocket for next year. Should be factored in to the purchase price.
