does anyone have a full list of lamborghini's sold at auctions? i was wondering what the highest price for one would be. im assuming that would be a miura.

this one didnt sell, but if im not mistaken, had it sold it would have been the highest price for any this auction.

Completely agree.....re Early Diablos...as matter of fact I had a ppi done on this car while it was at Interstate....seller would not move off $165....car "decent", more problems underneath than perhaps you had the chance to appreciate. I did buy another yellow/black '91 for $142,500 this Spring, car retained all its original interior/wheels/engine bits/radio etc etc...solid, no rust...a "good resto candidate"...lol....just as the other cars cited here. Car with DrivenExoctics now (Steve is terrific, as most of you here probably know). So, this seems to be the "Market price" at the moment for early devils...$110-150-ish...

As Joe stated: "Yes it did, $516,500 all-in with fees."

A bargain, if you ask me. The condition looked incredible.

Yes, as this year's results are the fresh topic of discussion I was speaking of just the 2018 Pebble Beach weekend's results, wherein Miura SV 4920 brought the top number.

The highest Lamborghini-at-auction number I have been connected to was our Miura SV 4884 which brought $2,310,000 a few years ago.

Converse to publicly-declared auction results, bear in mind that there are some Private Treaty sales of Lamborghini that have brought much more than any of these numbers, but I am not at liberty to disclose them here.

    I think it sold well.

As for the yellow Countach... just from what I saw in a pretty quick look over off the top of my head. First its at-least 3 different shades of yellow. On the exterior paint, it looks as though they took black paint and filled in many creases around the car to make it look like the urethane that lambo uses. Problem is, none of these areas are supposed to have urethane, and it looks like they used a magic marker. Front grills are missing. Wing is badly bubbling. Wheels missing. Interior is pretty rough as is engine compartment. Noticeable oil leaks. It looks like someone broke the shifter, and they machined a new short shift rod, non original shift knob etc.

I remember seeing a Cen. Roadster listing for around 4 million Euros, so I guess it's not surprising that bid wasn't accepted. Wonder how long it's going to continue to list until someone takes the hit on it.

Lamborghini originally used Silicone in the seams for caulking the Countach, so any time you see a Countach with Urethane caulking, you know it has been re-seamed at the very least and likely has been repaired and/or repainted.

You can tell the difference between the Silicone and the typically-used 3M Urethane visually, the Urethane cures to a glossier finish, whereas the original Silicone always had a flatter finish.

That said I agree, this car had everything in the book going against it so it's bid number was impressive.

As much as i love the color combo on this car, i agree on its used up auction exitement, every potential Countach buyer out there is aware of this, its time for this car to move on,Sell,or restore, or simpley drive it and enjoy, (if thats poss) there will be no unexpected high bidders popping up on this car.

I wasn't being technical on whether they used silcone or urethane. Simply used the term to indicate the fact they imitated its use all over the car with paint, in areas where its not supposed to exist in any shape or form..

Yes but the fact that this Countach has Urethane in some places (when it should be Silicione) speaks to the car's bigger cosmetic issues, and yes, I know what you mean about the caulk-lines recreated in some other places with black marker or black paint, including in places where caulking shouldn't be. This and the car's issues you listed above combined with the car's factory specification, are why this car did not sell.

If I'm not mistaken, didn't this car bring more money the last time Roy had it on offer at auction ?

I think you cannot say that in general. After years the silicone can dry-out and gets cracks because of age, temperature differences...
So i´m very sure there are also cars around, which have original paint but refinished silicone or urethane caulking.

But to come back on the yellow QV, i guess Joe is right and this indicates some bigger post-produciton bodyworks.

That's good to know - I read the exact opposite on here the other day:

    http://lp5000.blogspot.com/2013/12/urethane-countach-seams.html

Seems there's a lot of misinformation about it.
