I am considering a new V12 Italian car.

The recently released Aventador SVJ seems to be a premium package consisting of largely carbon fiber with less paint options compared to the SV model (which I think comes with the new technology also).

What are the forums thoughts on this model compared to the normal Lamborghini production (limited to 63 world wide)?

What if any speculation that this maybe the last normally aspired V12 vehicles?

Compared to the Ferrari 812 (the current non limited model)?

Just looking for any conversation on these SV and SVJ models.

I'd take a ''normal SV'' or S over the Jota version, I don't see a lot of reasons to upgrade over a SV besides the four wheel steering which the S has and the ALA system.

Can't say I am a fan of the 63 edition, seems like they just put a sticker on it.

And knowing Lamborghini they will probably launch a new ''last edition'' of the Aventador down the line.

Don't think you can go wrong with any of them, they are amazing cars with one of the best engine sounds out there.

I think they're building more than the SV production if I've read reports correctly; 900 unless that includes both coupes & roadsters, so 450 for each? I believe the SV capped at 600 for the coupe & 500 for the roadster.

I wouldn't worry about color options. To my understanding, the Ad Personam program will basically let you choose whatever you want as long as the check is there.

Thanks for the input. I think I am leaning toward a more limited car, but I won't know until the dealers know more themselves. Even if the "63" aspect is just carbon fiber upgrades, it may still be worth a premium to me. Given that I am unable to order an 812 or any limited F-car at all right now I am very interested to have a shot at the SVJ.

The SVJ will still be pretty rare, and I suspect it'll be the ultimate performance Aventador.

Here's the design basis FWIW, it'll be a stunning in all-black IMO

Saw the car at Quail and attended the 63 unveiling. The car is stunning but they're producing too many. They'll be 900 coupes and possibly the same amount of roadsters. The number that was thrown around at the preview event was 1963.

And rumors that the SVJ is the last NA V12 are just rumors. The replacement which is coming out 2021 will have the V12 with hybrid assistance. This is more to skirt emissions regulations so the the engine itself will remain the same but with more HP. I had a deposit on the SVJ but I've decided to pass and put it on the replacement which I reckon will be sold out for a couple years so values should remain strong. Bottom line is the SVJ will depreciate but how much you lose is anyone's guess.

So, If I understand you correctly - you do estimate that the SVJ may likely be the very last fully N/A engine?

This I say yes and was the reason I had a deposit on it. But as he mentioned, 900 coupes produced is the majority of the Aventador line in one year (produce little over 1000 per year). Thus I don’t find this to be limited at all.
The 63 looks pretty cool but is a $100k on top of the $517k base price of SVJ. It is also going to be extremely difficult to get.
I’m super disappointed in the production numbers and I moved my deposit to the SVJ Roadster but if these #’s are high as well, I’ll pull out.

I really hope there's a miscommunication somewhere. It baffles me why Lamborghini would build 300 more Jotas over the standard SV coupe unless they're really wanting to milk the model line.

VAG needs money so they're going to keep milking Lamborghini.

Bottom line is the SVJ should have been limited but VAG logic is if they can sell say 2,000 SVJ's instead of the AV S why not? There's way more money to be made. And trying to convince people it's the last NA V12 is fine but lets not forget the 10,000+ other Aventadors with NA V12's out there which includes the SV which will be rarer.

At the end of the day there's nothing exclusive about this car and you'll see a ton of them get listed once more info starts coming out about the replacement which btw from what I heard will be radically different in terms of design from the current A.

Saw it at Quail. Inmo, the most incredible car you can buy even at 2-3 x its price. That being said the word was 900 Coupes, 700 Roadsters, and 63 Special editions for a total of 1963 cars. That would make it produced in larger numbers than the SV.

Sorry, wrote it late night. There was talk of 1000 roadsters, and thats how the number divide was being thrown around.

does anyone know the actual differences between the 63 SVJ63 and 900 SVJ? from the photos it appears its just the carbon roof, but ive seen numerous reports that the full carbon roof is an ad personam option on the regular SVJ already. There is also the 63 numbering and SVJ badge deletion and white color but i see everyone posting different colors that they are speccing their 63 in. although on instagram ive seen about 200 people that are "definitely" getting the SVJ63 so theres always the slight chance that they dont know what they are talking about :)

And 1963 would have had additional meaning too.

    Correct.

Like mentioned above the SVJ63 has the carbon roof also exterior carbon is matte and not gloss like the standard SVJ. Interior is untouched.

Btw, the carbon roof can be optioned out on the AV S' via Ad Personam. Here's a pic of a local AV S with the carbon roof option:

correct. Not sure how much I trust those figures though, as you would think they would make more coupes than roadsters.

    Exactly.

Other manufacturers such as Porsche Ag have set the example based on calculations that there are more rich people today, and let's face it, this is a rich person's toy for someone who wants the fastest/latest/greatest and isn't all that worried about the numbers.

Meanwhile, if a prospective buyer is looking for a rare car with low production numbers that will hold value or appreciate, I can suggest a few other Lamborghini models/variants.

True...I am of the latter camp. Don’t want to keep buying exotics that will sink in depreciation....
What models do you suggest in a similar price bracket? Countach, Diablo?
For this price range, I’m tempted to get a 2nd CGT.

Keeping the discussion Lamborghini-based, a collectible alternative might specifically be one of the @ 300 1985 - 87 Countach Downdrafts, if you can prise a really good one away. Or if you want to step it up in value and go back in time to an early icon, one of @ 150 Miura SVs. The proviso with the more classic Lamborghinis is you need to be guided by experienced & astute advice or really know what you're doing or you'll make a mistake, as many find out years later.

Thinking outside the Lamborghini box, one of 349 Ferrari F50s (there is a good stablemate for our CGTs), one of 1,311 F40s (211 of which are a rarer Tipo USA variant), or 1 of 272 288 GTOs, the latter perhaps the ultimate collectible Ferrari Supercar.

The point is, if a guy is concerned about production numbers, collectibility and appreciation, there are cars you can buy to address those concerns, cars you can still have a lot of fun with.

as someone that is very unlikely to own a lamborghini, and defnitiely not a SVJ from new, I kinda like how lamborghini makes more cars like this. The thought that if i could afford it today i could put an order in tomorrow and possibly get one is great. Much different than ferrari where i'd have to buy a few other cars to get a spot on the stock 812 and forget even getting a chance at the TDF replacement which is essentially what the SVJ is.
