What exactly does pressing the welcome button illuminate (lower right button on the key fob that has a light bulb icon). I've searched the owner's manual extensively, tried both key fobs, doors locked and unlocked, battery tender unplugged, doors closed, etc.

It primes the proton fusion step in the flux capacitor. Once you hit 88 mph, you're going to see some serious chit.

It does nothing in my car.

So the "Welcome Button" serves no purpose in the 488? Hum?

Mine comes on in three seconds. I tried it just now in the garage with somewhat dim ambient lighting. I suspect in broad daylight the sun light sensor would negate this function.

In the manual as noted in a previous post. "Welcome light ... Press and hold (for more than 5 seconds) button "I" to activate the 'welcome light', the dome light on the roof illuminates."

Noted on page 16 and detailed on Page 21. It works for me.

Thanks Bob. I've been searching for information in the pdf file which I downloaded from MyFerrari. This version makes no mention of the welcome light on either page 16 or 21. I'll consult the hardcopy that came with the car and give it another try. No sure it's relevant, but my car is a 2018.

That worked. I hold the button for ~3 seconds and the dome light turns on, but after ~5 seconds begins to dim and then turns off. One would think it would stay on a bit longer. Oh well. Thanks for helping me to figure it out.

I noticed the same thing ... I guess the "idea" is to just to give you enough time to get to or into the car ...

Does anyone know if the outside vehicle lights light up as you approach the car at night, when you press the unlock button ?
