Meanwhile in F2, Haas has to deal with another clown act. Wow, just wow: "Ferrucci was also fined €66,000 for driving without a glove on, while also holding a mobile phone as he drove between paddocks in his F2 car." Full Autosport article:
Unfortunately poor Ocon has to go because he would give Stroll a very good hiding if they were to be team mates. Really hope something good comes up for him as he doesn't deserve losing his seat.
Strange for someone under the Mercedes umbrella that the 3-pointed star doesn't sem to be interested in keeping Ocon in F1. They did the same with Wehrlein.
They dumped Magnessun without even giving him a ride. Magnessun > Grosjean Ocon should go to Haas. That would be pretty awesome-- Ocon in a Ferrari powered car.
Zack Brown said that 4 drivers are in running for the 2nd seat for next year. Ocon, Perez, Van and Norris. The pressure for Perez to move to Mclaren is coming from Merc but if I was in FI shoes I'd want free engines and updates It's still likely that Ocon will be without a seat for the rest of the season by Russia.....
Perez was pursued aggressively by McLaren but lasted only one season. He was replaced by Magnussen who scored a 2nd place in his first F1 race; Magnussen was demoted to reserve/test driver when Alonso joined the team.
Ron Dennis' explanation for sacking Sergio Perez was that he was too distant and didn't "gel" with the team. I think "lack of movivation" was invoked by Dennis in an interview to explain Kein Magnussen's departure. The Magnussens, father and son, were both sacked by Ron Dennis in very dubious circumstances, IMO.
Mag, grosjean, stroll, Ericsson, Hartley, stoffel, sack the ****ing lot of the useless seat warmers. Time for some new blood, these wasters are a bunch of never-beens and never-will-Be’s. Don’t let Ocon drive a ferrari engined car, the **** will be telling toto sneaky fox all our info.... give gio another shot at a drive at sauber and bump Charles into the Haas, or vice versa, either way, two ferrari talents learning their trade would be great for the senior team in a few years. Oh, and sack that elton kid for being a total pillock
Yes I never quite bought the explanation for either, but I recall that JYS felt that Jan Magnussen lacked something. His fitness wasn't the best and he still smoked in those days. I guess that Ron just decided that he didn't like the guys.
Bring in Alexander Rossi. Yeah, the F1 elites will sniff, "but...Indycar". Effem. That boy is a racer. I rate him above about half the grid pigeons out there now.....
What do you mean "F1 elites" he was part of F1 for 4 years and has 5 gp's under his belt. He decided to leave F1 to go to Indy.
Rossi had his turn in F1, as a tester at Caterham and Marussia,, and even did a few racesI think. He didn't look impressive enough to be retained then. He even stepped down to GP2 for a while, I believe, before heading back to the States.
Rossi is certainly better that both Williams drivers, Ericsson and Hartley, none of which should be in F1 anyway. Not sure why he would want to return unless it was a top 3 team and that is not possible.
Yes, but I think his run in F1 was premature, and with obviously troubled teams. He's proven himself in indycar and I think he could do well in F1 now. You probably don't see indycar in the UK but he really has distinguished himself in every facet of driving this season.
However good he his, and I take your word for it, Rossi will meet the reluctance of European teams, more inclined to recruit "home grown" drivers coming from the feeder series, like GP3 and F2, rather than drivers coming from the States. There has been a few bad experiences in signing US based drivers in the past: Michael Andretti, Christiano de Matta, Alex Zanardi, Patrick Bourdais, Speed, etc... I think Mario and Jacques Villeneuve were the exceptions.
