No one is trying to claim some kind of superiority here.

The point of the video, again, is to demonstrate what the underlying issues are that create the SDL.

I personally like to know what I am dealing with and in my cars case I had SDL issues after just swapping parts around. It was frustrating and like trying to make a diagnosis with no X-rays and my eyes closed. I don't work like that.

By tapping the outputs you can immediately discern where the problem is and correct and most importantly KNOW that you fixed it and not have to drive around and HOPE that the SDL won't come on. The process for tapping them takes about 10 minutes and costs about $6 in material. You have the added benefit of checking the temperatures of the cats real time while driving to see if there are any other heat related issues going on. It just is a more elegant way to deal with the car.

I know of someone who went to a dealer and for $2000 they replaced all the SDECUs and TC.
    That will fix it!!

As I said, Bob, it's a valid approach and I'm not discrediting it at all. My point is, one does not have to always start with the more detailed approach. Example, if I turn a light on in the house and it does not work, a simple educated guess would lead me to believe the bulb is bad. So, I could change the buld and give that a try, or I could get my volt meter out and start checking for proper voltages. I'll save the later for when needed, that's my preference.

Many of the best techs in this world, accross multiple industries, including medical, use experience as a diagnostic tool. Before sending a patient for an x-ray, ct scan or other, they will ask questions to see if symptoms align with a certain outcome.

To the OP, plenty of good options in this thread to give ideas on a successful way to solve your problem.

The bigger issue is to get it through the heads of chatters that there is no such thing as "limp mode". If your SLD comes on solid while you are driving, and you keep driving, there is a chance you will do significant damage to your car. By the time the fuel is cut off to the offending bank things have gotten very, very hot. Fuel cut off will allow things to cool off, then fuel delivery will be restored and the overheating cycle repeated.

In my case, while the SDL came on solid for only a few seconds. Temperatures never reached the fuel cut off threshold. I know that because after diagnosing the problem as failure of one side of the coil, I knew that only 2 cylinders lost spark. I.E. engine running on 6. If the temp had reached the cut off threshold it would have dropped another two and that would have been obvious by another change in the song of the engine.

Thank you again all! You have no idea how much I appreciate the help and advice provided! I am now under the direction of one Dr.Bob. I think I am in good hands as he seems as if he has a wealth of knowledge. I hope he is equally as patient! JK Dr.Bob! Ha! I will update as I go along so hopefully I can be a help to others as well her may experience this.
Step 1 : Took temps of headers and cats. They are performing as they should.
Step 2 : Purchasing recommended OBD reader and dash command app for my phone.
    Wish me luck!
