As most of the 456/550/575 owners are aware, Antonio Capristo came out with an aftermarket replacement cartridge for our water pumps last year, and it costs significantly less than the OEM part.

Antonio has now confirmed its fitment on the 456 with his version of the upgraded 8 vane impeller (Ferrari P/N 176045) and the 93mm (Ferrari P/N: 169924) pulley in lieu of the stock 102mm for higher flow. His version of the impeller is aluminum, and it's short enough to fit in the 456 pump housing. Following is his email, and I've attached the document showing his pump being fitted into a 456 pump housing.

This pump should be available through Daniel @ Ricambi.

Disclaimer: I'm not trying to be a poster child for Capristo, nor am I being compensated in any way by them; I just appreciate having high quality alternatives to OEM parts.

    Hi John,

There has also been such a matter where a customer has tried to modify the water pump. Some problems occurred owing to the fact that the impeller was too high.

We have investigated this matter and carried out some trials. Now we are in a position to advise you the results of this matter.

I remembered that you asked us some questions some time ago and I am confident that the result of our investigations will be of help to you.

You can mount the original pulley with a smaller diameter on our Capristo water pump. Then we can supply this water pump with an impeller of a new design like the original one with the
    number 176045.

However, our impeller is not made from plastic but from aluminium.

I hope that my information if of help to you. Please observe the attached PDF file.

In case of queries, please do not hesitate to contact us.

    mit freundlichen Gruß
    Antonio Capristo

    Tks John,
I did not realize what Daniel sells is the Capristo alternative or upgrade rather.
I am not a candidate (yet) as my car has no cooling problems so far, but I certainly would go for that when the time comes.

    Hello
I own a 348 TB 1990 Im totaly rebuilding it since one year. Recently I put a capristo whater pump and now the car is over heating after a small ride.
I checked and changed many things, like sensors, hoses, presure flushing..I have cold radiators..I have the feeling that the pump dont do the job.
Please tell me if you had problems on this model, the pump was new in box but i dont know where and when it was bought.
