Ok the first **** is where I use a slang word for human excrement. The second ***** is where I typed, it's hit" . I guess that the s and hit were too close together.

If one participate to let his or her 308 driven by Jay Hernandez and something goes wrong, will they pay for the damage?
I’m sure they have insurance but what does it cover?

I got I got an invite to this and this is what it says:

We'll be shooting in and around Downton LA as that's where we'll be picking up Jay Hernandez, the star of the new Magnum PI. We only have access to him from 2pm for an hour and we'll want to get everything with him down in that window. Before and after that we'll want to get all the required b-roll of the car, including beauty shots and passing shots of the car being driven in the same area. So ideally we'd need to have the car available from mid morning to late afternoon on the 24th but we can be flexible depending on what exactly is possible. Where exactly are you based?

Unfortunately there isn't any budget available to off any money for access to the car but we would be happy mention/credit any parties involved that have made this possible.

    Would you guys do it?

Really... you're shooting an international tv trailer, and have no budget?

Hell no, you couldn't use my car.

No. we had a production company do a shoot for the Ga Lottery -they offered $1000 for the 2 hours for a 348. cant believe a Hollywood show has no budget. let alone any insurance.

If they are shooting in the city of LA with a permit, they need to have insurance and all that other good stuff. Regarding the budget, I agree with you. A one hour scripted TV show on a major network will have a production budget between $3-$5 million per episode. The network will also kick in marketing dollars. If they secured international distribution, then they have $$. Note that the production company normally gets 15% of the approved production budget, so there is money there. However, usually the first 3 seasons of a show are deficit financed, so they could be tight about how they want to spend.

I bet they're paying the talent, the camera crew, the director, the producer, the assistants for the director and producer, the editor, the colorist, the DA guy, and craft services.... Unless they're all working for a "credit/mention". Which they aren't.

Agree that you have more to lose than gain. I also work in downtown LA. Have you seen the condition of the streets and congestion here during the day? It's crazy.

Ferrari owners are not fools. They will pay to film and drive a well sorted 308 guaranteed.

Rediculous that they even considered fishing for a freebie!

Not an owner, but uh.....does "Hell" go with "No"? And why is Magnum driving the streets of L.A. in the 308, anyway? Is this a regular thing....just zip over to L.A. to run a background or fingerprint check on this week's bad-guy? I guess all us U.S. cities look alike to the U.K.'s audience? I know....buildings is buildings on camera.

The whole "Not In The Budget" nonsense makes me think the studio doesn't take Ferrari owners seriously. Heck....they're just "old" cars, aren't they? "The shmucks will be ecstatic to get a nod in the credits.....right after we give a shout out to the Porta-Potty supplier" (and who has ever seen credits for a T.V. show trailer anyway?) . They probably blew the insurance budget covering the star. Does he even know how to drive a stick? They should probably put a "shout out" to 308 owners who have the "automatic transmission" option. Now....if they put out a call for a P.O.S. Hyundai, I'm your man! I've put WAY too many question marks in this post.

Mike, you’re car is way to nice to used by a film crew. And they do have money. Don’t even think about it.

John you’re absolutely right, not really worried about traffic, I’m more concern about LA street/road, they are terrible considering how low and deep my front spoiler is, it’s gonna get damage if they are not careful.

Ron, thanks for the compliment! I’m really glad I declined the invitation, even if they offer $1k, if something goes wrong, it’s going to cost way more than that. I also agree that they do have budget for this.

So downtown LA is supposed to double for downtown Honolulu?

    I don't get the point

They should buy up a few 308’s while they still can.

This “borrow a car” thing will not work out.

Having spent 35 years in the industry, and reading this, I wouldn't touch this with your ten foot pole. Call the main production company and get the facts. Also, double check their filming permit. They are very expensive, and narrow in scope, filming times, exact locations, and very strictly enforced. I would bet that by the end of the day, "Magnum" " will not be showing up, due to- due to some odd reason". These guys sound too weird to me.. Probably just looking from some misguided Magnum devotee sucker to get his five minutes of fame, with the promise of (fantom) credits, (the second biggest lie in the Biz). But...what the heck do I know... and they will probably want to do a car wash scene with the windows down. No budget??? Bah Humbug. Go for it. What could possibly go wrong??? All the best. Jq.
