finally pulled the trigger on a 2003 360, gated in Grigio. I was up in the air between the 360 and a 550. I loved the looks of the 360 but the 550 drove like a dream. That V12 is the most impressive engine I have ever driven and was one of the best cars I have driven. The only issue was that the 550 was $40k more, and I justified the extra money, so I got a loan. But after deep thoughts by jack handy, I realized I did not want a monthly payment hanging over me and all of a sudden the 550 was out.

I’m in Cali and the car is in jersey! So now it’s time to get it. Wife thinks I should ship it but I have my heart set on driving that 360 back home! I’ll keep everyone posted.

Someone else recently did a DC to CA trip with their newly bought 360, so if you have time, do it!

Of course now there’s all these other 360 for sale for much cheaper, but have to say I only wanted the Grigio. Love this color on the 360 and allows you to fly under the radar a bit than something that might catch your eye a lot quicker.

Found an interesting site that gives you all the things to see while on a road trip:

Thanks! Of course I don’t have the time, just have to see how I can carve some out.

Grigio is my favorite but the wife likes Rosso Corsa. Guess who won out when we bought our 2003 Spider? Not me. I really will be interested to hear of your drive back. How many miles are on your new car?

Lol, obviously she won! Thanks, planning on posting pictures on the fchat. It’s aprox 2600 miles I believe from Newark and Los Angeles. Just going to do a straight shoot. The car has 35k so will be good for it!

Oh and drive it home. Nothing more fun than a road trip. Maybe some Ferrari events on the way home?

    Awesome!

I’ve SOR the CA drive to the east coast several times. My vote is ship it. Unless you have 2-3 weeks to take back roads and really enjoy the trip the highways are very boring. I’ve done them all, I-10, I-70 and I 80...

Was weighing the option of driving and shipping it. Obviously shipping is the "responsable" thing to do and not put miles on it...Contacted the shipping companies and they can ship for around $1600-3000, not sure why such the difference in price. I mean they are all the same enclosed truck, same miles and same fuel used. They pick up the car, the car sits in storage facility until they have enough cars to go to Los Angeles, average wait 3-4 weeks. This sounds terrible........So shipping a set of new tires, Firehawk Indy 500's to Jersey. Now just need new windshield wipers, might start a new thread on that and booked a ticket to go pick it up next week. The journey has begun.

I picked up all my earlier Ferraris and drove them home, up to 1700 miles per trip. Highly recommend that so glad to see that is what you are planning. You will really enjoy the trip, even with interstate miles in the mix.

Shame about the 550, though. You would have loved the Maranello.

That’s good to hear! Feel there is a special bonding with the car when you do these things.

I know, I know, I know. I was looking for the ultimate driving experience and the 550 checked all those boxes. At the end it was the numbers that decided. Have a lot going on and the idea of a monthly payment although doable, just wasn’t attractive. Just have to work harder to put that 550 next to the 360!

Good Choice. I think the 360 will be infinitely more enjoyable for a Ferrari. 550's are nice but the driving dynamics of the 360 are far more exciting i find

I have a 99 Euro 360, I don't have cruise control. That would be an awfully long walk to let my foot do the driving!

Assuming these newer US ones have cruise control?

Oh, and huge congrats! Can't wait to see pics for the road trip

    +1

For me if I could only have one it would have to be my 360 but I would love to put a 550 next to it in a few years.
