Lutz was a car guy when many of the top Detroit execs weren't, and was a force behind building better/more interesting cars when the degree of difficulty in doing so was high.
New video with stills - take a real close look at the side scoop, some visual evidence to suggest that’s camo covering the real shape. I’m not 100% convinced, but it does look like a cover up:
Was Reuss the guy that pushed the Aztec to be built on a front drive minivan chassis verses the original intent (rear drive pickup chassis)? As an outsider, the Aztec represented EVERYTHING wrong with GM back then...namely, too many chefs in the kitchen, IMO.
The "V's" in particular, or the CTS Coupe/Wagon or both? I had a CTS wagon...cool car. Couldn't talk my wife into the V version
No, he wasn't the sole perpetrator. As you said, there were wayyyy too many cooks in the kitchen on that one. They were desperate to do something 'different & unique', but mfg, finance & engineering settled on an architecture that wasn't conducive to getting a proper crossover. And the design staff served up a questionable solution. Looking at the Nissan Juke & the latest Lexus designs, tells me that GM weren't the only ones going off the rails. It's a disease lately.
I couldn't agree more. Who would have thought Arnold's "Predator" would be inspiration for the front end of an SUV? The upside for everyone involved in the Aztec is that Toyota has, IMO, clearly won the ugliest of all time with the current Prius Prime. You know you've made an ugly car when it looks horrid from EVERY angle.
This view also seems to indicate that the rear fenders are still attached to the body. The rear engine cover doesn't have half of the fender attached in the way that the hood was designed on the C4 Corvette. Would have been an innovative solution for engine access. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I agree it would have been cool but these "clamshell" hoods/trunks are REALLY expensive to repair from a collision. The reason the C5 Corvette went to a conventional hood/fenders was because of this. Check out insurance on a C4 or a Viper....

Some guys says some cladding under the camp to distort the shape.
^^^^ I agree. There's still a LOT of subterfuge going on under the camo. I also think the rear spoiler is there for visual confusion. You'll notice the high mounted brake light is in the rear fascia, not the spoiler.
YOU guys interested in the c8 should also check out midenginecorvetteforums New site but pretty cool . Im digging this new corvette the standard model is not going to compete directly even from a performance standpoint as it probably will have a slightly tuned LT1 which at around 500 hp and 500 lb/ft of torque should be imoressive for the standard vehicle. LOOKs like a dct along with mrc shocks and coils will make for a great daily driver. Cant tell anything yet on the styling but it should be attractive. Looks like January 14 th in detroit for the official reveal. We might get lucky. And get some information ahead of time. A choice between the traditioanl targa roof and a folding hardtop. We are also expecting upmarket models with 600 and 800 hp twin turbo dohc v8s and possibly a wide body for larger wheels and tires. Im on my third new corvette. this last one has been utterly reliable and ive put on 126 k miles. I use it all year long and have a set of wheels and snow tires for the winter. I get around just fine. I fully exoect to do the same with my c8 z51 with dct and mrc shocks. Recntly i see a lot of mclaren 570 s running around. I fully expect the c8 to be close to the 570 but at a much lower cost to purchase and of course maintain. You guys should only know how inexpensive these corvettes are to run. Thats one ofthe characteristics of corvettes I love... I need my soorts cars to be utterly reliable and durable as well of course as fun to drive.
It's gotta be camo. It really do not look very good otherwise. Definitely not exotic looking in that form.
