I have come across a white 250 GTE, first owner was José Miguel Galia.

He drove the car in Caracas untill the second half of the eighties when he sold it to Italy (it still has a 1983 sticker on the windscreen from Caracas University parking where he also was a professor) .

Do you believe there to be any chance that this could be the car in this picture?

    Kind regards

Carlos Kauffmann in Caracas got seven brand new 250 GTE's of which three were originally painted white and ivory.

Thank you for your reply, Mr. Massini.
Is there a way for us to privately share the history I found so far and your information on the 250 GTE, currently in my possession?

    Best regards.

For info: the latest '250 SWB' build from GTO has the identity of 250 GTE s/n 2457GT. The silver car with the tricolore centre stripe, registered as 'SIW 250'.

This is from Instagram (NOT my photo). I believe '337 YUP' is s/n 2527GT (a 250 GTE identity).

This reg has previously been suggested as s/n 2491GT, but comparing this car to the images from 2013 Salon Prive, that's clearly not the case.

Ed - Do you have a photo of this SN? I have just received an email from the owner of 2457 GT and it is still a GTE and undergoing restoration. GTO has been pretty good about buying the cars of the Serial Numbers they use so that there is not a conflict like this.

Hi Tom, was the reg plate bought from the 'real' 2457GT? Perhaps the chassis now has a brand-new full 17-digit number. Is the original engine from 2457GT still with the car?

The owner still has the Chassis Number, ID Plate and properly stamped engine. Not sure what is going on here.

Was his/her car ever registered as 'SIW 250'?

The car is on plate 'SIW 250'. If you use this publicly-available tool https://www.mycarcheck.com/ you will be able to see the result I'm seeing.

Not that I know of, but I will have the owner look at his paperwork. For what it is worth, the Register says that Jacques Swaters renumbered the car with the Serial Number of SWB 2291, but no such numbers appear on the car. If it was done at all, it was done on paper only. Maybe someone is using that to create his SWB.

That site says the year is 2006 (don't know if it is the year made or the year registered). The real GTE has been parked in a garage since 1969, so has been off of the grid for quite a while.

Now it makes sense why that card was in the mug.

Ron and my friend John Rector, were very very close friends.

That is very cool! I never knew that Len Miller, the founder of the GTE Register made cards like that. Good find!
