It was national cheeseburger day on the 18th. Great timing!

Both look great. Summer corn has started to lose its mojo here.

Really slim pickings tonight in fchat land

Poured hulled hemp hearts over cold leftover cream of wheat with a sprinkle of sugar.

This pic is for you Max:

Vanilla? That's crazy talk! Chocolate. Small size was only 50 cents. I kept mine in the freezer and had it for dessert. Sandwich was spicy chicken. Not as good as Chick Fil A, but wasn't bad with a little Texas Pete hot sauce. Too much mayo though. Wife had a Dave's Single, which was free. Can get one free, until end of month I think, if you download their app.

I need to try the frosty again, I don't like chocolate, so I had the vanilla, but I don't remember it.

I don't need to download any more apps. I barely use any as it is.

Not much to eat tonight - some home-made guacamole, some Italian ham (Parma), cheese, nuts... and I drank a full bottle of 2006 Château Lagrange (Saint Julien).
It was OK, even though Saint Julien is not my favorite Bordeaux :)

Whaaaaat?!? My wife and I were joking while on line that the only person we could recall who didn't like chocolate - and wasn't allergic to it - was her mother. And, that old gal was wacky. That's not company you want to be in.

I downloaded, registered, then deleted the app. Can pass up free burgers, that $2 is going into my "next Ferrari" fund! :D

Back to moderately healthy home cooking. Salad w/ pistachios, a little feta, cracked black peps, and some apple cider vinegar. If you want to jazz up your salads, marinated artichokes from Costco are very tasty...T

Nice. My wife & I can't finish a bottle between us. We're not in practice like we were in college.
Your dinner sounds like tapas @ home. Or an antipasti. Next time add some good olives & excellent bread, and you're set. Yummy.
We do that from time to time, esp. in summer when it's too hot to cook/go outside.

Fight the urge Max! Taco Bell is an affront to Tex Mex. My former secretary loved it, though. She was a peach. So, I'd take her there for lunch every other month or so. Thank goodness for hot sauce!

Corn is still very good...bought these chicken drumsticks marinated in lemon pepper from the local market. (This might be the lowest cost dinner I’ve ever had...the corn was 25 cents and the chicken was 2 bucks.)

Once every 10 years or so I succumb to their advertising and simply have to make a run for the border...which is then quickly followed by another kind of run.

I was with my GF, she does not drink red wine.
We were still recovering from the 50 years anniversary event of the French FOC, so needed a light dinner ;)

Grilled a NY Strip that was pre-marinated by the local market in something they call "burgundy pepper" sauce and some broccoli. Surprisingly tender and juicy, among the best steak I've had this year and I bet they use select or choice at best (weird - maybe the marinade in the vacuum-seal bag aged it to tenderness).

So...in the breakfast thread I mentioned how I ended up with 3 dozen eggs (I doubt I've ever had more than a dozen in the house). So, I needed ideas for eggs. I had some ricotta left over from making Ricotta-stuffed squash blossoms that was about to expire. So a quick google turned up the idea for Ricotta Cheesecake. I've never baked a damn thing in my life. I don't eat dessert very often and when I do its usually a s'more when we have guests in the mountains.

So...I gave this a whirl and it actually worked! I put too much lemon zest (it colored the whole thing) and perhaps a bit too much sugar, but its pretty darn good (served with some macerated fresh berries). Now I have a whole damn pie to work thru because I'm on my own for another 2 weeks...(I wonder if it will freeze?)

Dang, your lady leaves you alone and you're becoming an accomplished baker. Ania is going to expect you to make these for her when she returns!
