37yrs old and name is down for 488 successor since March. What is crazy funny is all these recent announcements are exactly what my dealer shared with me in January, old news. That said, recently got a call around a pista, so gotta speak to them again if it's a possibility.

This is all moving too quickly, one day we have the pista, next day we have the hybrid.

Based on the 5YP the 488 replacement seems to be a TTV6. There will be a V8 however it will be a range above where is is now. They did imply a V12 rear mid as well.

it they move from great sounding NA V8 to turbo, why not go to V6? it will be almost the same as V8 turbo, with hybrid system performance will be only better :D

Three engines available on the successor.. what I was told earlier on in the year, v6tt hybrid, v8tt, top end has not been fully disclosed... V8 to arrive first and it's what I want anyway.

Of course they will - as long as it puts out much more HP and has
better handling Plus the advantages of SWB and no lag from hybrid o_O

Impossible? No, the LaFerrari has an empty weight of 1370kg, I think, and it has a big V12.
So since Ferrari describes this car above the 488's replacement, and since it will be "a real Supercar" and "no compromise" and probably with a V8 Hybrid, I find that possible.

I think the V8 TT is also hybrid and it's faster than the LaFerrari

V12 and V8 engine choices have served other companies (and the Lusso) very well, so why not V8 and V6 for the mid-engine?

Price the V6 where it would normally be with one engine choice, charge a premium for the V8. Cover more people and more prices with the same car. Sounds a little different, responds a little different, one has more power, one has less weight. Different strokes for different folks. Makes sense to me. Eventually they're just going to sell exotics with various battery packs anyway. The more you can segment a single product to hit different customer bases, the better.

There's a lot of room for this segmentation in the exotic market as you try to cater to people who demand the ultimate performance while some are more into design, or brand, or sadly just the cachet.

Latest I've been able to nail down is that the 488 will be replaced with two different mid-engine cars; an "ultimate performance" car - a V8 - and a "fun to drive" car - a V6. The V6 was the source of the Dino rumors, but evidently they are going to badge it as a Ferrari. The idea is the same, though; a smaller, lighter, fun to drive model below the high performance V8. The wheelbases and tracks could both be different, as the new modular platform was designed to allow for this.

To whoever thought the 599 was the same platform as the 575M, no. The 575M had a welded steel frame that came from the 550. The 599 had the aluminum tub.

So let's sum up my current understanding:
    - next year, the new platform is unveiled with the V8 hybrid and presented as a new model on top of the 488 (maybe a sportier alternative to the V12, priced similarly).
    - the year after, the V6 hybrid is introduced as the real 488 replacement.
    If confirmed, that's actually smart.
The new V8 will have stratospheric performance and will be priced accordingly, so that the Pista will not appear immediately outdated and overpriced.
Then the V6 (with, I guess, similar performance and lower price than the Pista) will be introduced, but the Pista will be history (and have 2 cylinders advantage).

The V8 and V6 are both replacements for the 488. It's a split off with the V6 being the fun car and the V8 being the performance car. Two very different mid-engine models. So, a departure from the past.
