Since I drove mine today, I’ll continue this thread...the nimbleness, the steering feel, the way it takes on the twisties, the directness of the gated shifter, the way you can see the fender flares from inside the car, the induction noise, the howl of the carbs...how usable it is.

I've got a '79 GTB. I like that it's still a small sports car. I've got individual Weber air cleaners on it which accentuate the carb noise which to me sounds great. It's a fun car on the track, and it's easy to fix and reliable.

Plus, it's a pretty car...I like just looking at it sometimes. I think the design is timeless.

I love that it's not that fast!!
I mean I have a blast tossing around, barely over the legal speed limit!
I can wind 2nd gear up to 7k, then "click" it into 3rd and hammer down for 2 or 3 seconds, still almost legal!
My friends with newer, more expensive, "better" cars can barely get out of first gear under the speed limit.
And sliding around cloverleafs is almost "not dangerous". Not so with "better" cars.
I'm not a wealthy guy, and I have the coolest car an old guy like me can imagine!
(just can't afford a 288, Miura, Countach, or other amazing cars)

The raw feeling and behaviour of my carb car. And the fact, that a lot of dumb-asses familiar with modern stuff aren't even able to start the engine :)

I love that my 308 GTB gives me alot of the exitement of the 288 GTO for a fraction of the cost and parts are available.

That it was made during the reign of Enzo. That, combined with the design genius of Fioravanti.

I like the Magnum comments ;)

my usual response is: I always dreamed of the Ferrari 308, living in Hawaii and having a new girl every other week ...

well, except for living in Hawaii, everything came true :D

I will no doubt make some unhappy, but here is my opinion.

The 308 and 328 are very beautiful cars. However:

I believe that the 308 is (particularly the European version which I do not own*) is much prettier that the 328.
It has crisp lines that were softened in the 328.

I prefer the 308 instruments and switches over those in the 328 which try to be modern but do not quite make it.

Although the 328 has a little more power than the 308, I believe that the 308 is more fun to drive because it
is more responsive, particularly in the steering which feels much more connected to the road. I believe that
the 328 suspension and steering has been softened with respect to the 308, just like its lines.

*I have an '84 GTS QV. I love the original wheels, and I have kept the car mostly original.
The only exception is that I have moved both the front and rear bumpers an inch or so in closer to the body.

    Both are beautiful cars.

I do think the 308 is a slightly more pure car in it's design but I love that the 328 is a bit more modern and slightly easier to live with.
It is a privilege to own either.

I would agree with everything you say. I could have bought either but it was always going to be the 84 308 GTS. The black grillwork vs painted really makes a difference to me too.
Haven't thought of moving my bumpers in but now you've got me wondering about it.
