I took the car in for it's annual service today and they had these available for adding to my car. I decided to do it and it should be pretty loud. I will post a video in a couple of days when I get the car back.

They promise this one won't have a problem because it is valved. As long as the ECU can control the valves, the back pressure is properly modulated. Apparently a loss in backpressure can cause the CEL at least that is what I was told at the dealership.

So I should add that this doesn't have anything to do with the cats, they are still there. This is only the exhaust without a silencer or resonator or muffler or whatever they call it.

William , this should be interesting. Please keep us posted. I’m not sure anyone else has done this to a 488. Best , Kirk.

Here is a video after driving back from the Ferrari dealership. My grandson was the videographer and he is only 10 so please forgive the shakiness. He had fun making it though.

Got it! Thought this was a cat delete. Enjoy the new exhaust.

Sound really awesome, strange that Mac:s are so far from ever being able to produce anything near as good as this.

$5100 including install. I think you can do better but it is the Ferrari dealership that sold me the exhaust and did the work so there is a bit of a Ferrari tax there. I like using the dealership though because it keeps our relationship good and they are the ones that will perform any warranty related services. I was happy with the work done and the friendly interactions with the staff. I saw just the exhaust advertised for $4375 in one place and I think on ebay for $3750. The dealership had this one in stock so I went for it, definitely an impulse purchase on my part.

Not sure if I agree. I had a cat delete system on my 650s and it sounds much more aggressive than the 488.

fair enough, the only cars I'v heard is my friends 720S which sounds just horrible, it really a joke, and a 540s which sounded a little better but no where near as good as even a stock 488

Yes but remember this is not a cat delete system. The Tubi System is just replacing the rear muffler. The Cats are still in tact :)

Understood. I’m just saying that Macs can sound aggressive with an aftermarket exhaust.

They are apparently necessary for the adjustment of back pressure by the ECU. So Ferrari recommends an exhaust that has the valves so that the ECU is happy and no CEL is posted. This is apparently a different issue than CEL from O2 sensors. Anyway, the exhaust was supplied by the dealership so it's all good with the warranty. I am pleased with the additional sound and the valves stay open most of the time since I drive in RACE and manual mode, ergo I have the RPM above 3k most of the time.

I bought the same exhaust for my 458 Speciale. Straight pipes with valve delete (valves open all the time). When I did and posted here on Fchat there was some discussion if it was a necessary cost as there are valve bypass kits available. The Tube straight pipes are still a bit louder with a fair amount of gurgle when lifting off the gas - something the open valve box thing never created. The straight pipes also allow a free flow of exhaust all the time as even when the valves are open using a box, some of the exhaust still travels through the mufflers.

Somewhere I have a video but failing that I can post a new one of my Tubi straight pipe exhaust too as a bit of a comparison.
