That's why I traded in my 3.2 for a t back in 1990. I was tired of being left in the dust by all those pesky 2CV!
I may be the odd one here, but I'd love to add a 2CV to my garage!!! And just to prove that my automotive weirdness has no boundaries, I also want one of these: Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
A few years back, I was at some ritzy, fancy shmansy beach in LA, not too far from Beverly Hills. All kinds of cars were there ... FCar, Lambo, RR, American Muscle, 4x4s, you name it. And I thought to myself: "what kind of car would one bring here, if one wants to stand out?" I concluded that a Citroen 2CV would be the only car that would stand out here ... and get some looks. - Sam in Saratoga
I take my Mondial to the local Dallas Cars and Coffee about every 3rd month or so. If you haven't been to this one, it's truly amazing. Over 1500 cars attend, and I'd guess over 10K people. The dealership that hosts the event every month always reserves the first row for "exotics" -- usually defined as Ferrari, Lambo, Mclaren, Bentley, Rolls, Maserati, Ford GT, MB AMGs, etc. There's usually 15-20 late model Ferraris, 10-15 Lambos, 5-10 Mclarens, 5+Masteratis, 5 or so Bentleys/Rolls. In Jan, a Bugatti Chiron showed up. Guess what stands out in that see of late model, high performance, high-dollar cars? It's usually something like my Mondial, or the 308GT4 that occasionally shows up. Of course, the Chiron did sort-of stand-out (understatement of the year, as 90% of the attendees tried to crowd around it simultaneously). My point is that it's far more unusually to see something like a Mondial at a show, and that attracts interest amongst a sea of expensive super-cars that all look fairly similar. Sid
Some weekends in the summer, I take my Mondi out to the California coast. I have a favorite restaurant facing the ocean, where I have brunch. Last time I was there, a bus full of Europeans tourists showed up. They swarmed around my Mondi and took a gazillion pictures. I even let a few of them get in and take pictures sitting behind the wheel. It made their day.
My brother has two as well, I'm going to get his truckette painted for him. Image Unavailable, Please Login
That photo shows how to do it, or at least part of the story... Put the 2CV on a trailer, but then have the trailer towed by a Veyron.....
Just for the hell of it, there is the finished product after paint... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Very cool! Now, as a joke, you should make your brother some magnetic signs to place on the sides -- "Ferrari Support/Rescue Response Team". On second thought -- maybe it's not really that much of a joke, and might be closer to reality! Sid
