She's done! Now all I have to do is find someone who really knows how to drive a Sunnen SV-10. And.....I have to try and remember how to put this puppy back together ..... It's been at Steve's shop for over six months. The 7.906" figures are the deck heights for anyone else who's interested in this stuff. It started out at about 7.915 on the left and 7.910 on the right, which is where the factory had left them. Important stuff to know when you're having pistons made. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Johnny, I'm scared to total it up Seriously, I don't know how much I have in it as I don't have a bill yet from Steve. I know I've saved a chunk of $$$ by doing most of it myself so far, except the specialised work on the heads and the block. I'm "hoping" to get 100 HP/liter. If box stock Hondas can do that off the showroom floor, I would hope a Ferrari is up to it. Stock, both the 550 and 575 are only rated for 88 HP/liter - and I think that's VERY conservative. But then it's supposed to be a GT, not a hotrod, so it's intended to have wide, flat torque curve. I'm hoping to keep the GT characteristics, but maybe with a little "O" added......
Hey John, are you trying to achieve the higher horsepower figure by flashing the ROM using "Eurocharged"? They claim that they can up the HP figure on the 575 to 547 with the torque rising to 461, which is equivalent I believe to that on the SuperAmerica? Clyde Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Clyde, I'm going to try some things with a separate ECU. I don't know if I'll be successful or not, but we'll see when we hit the engine dyno. For that testing, there won't be any cats or OEM ECU's to limit the power output. GS, I use the term hotrod with the utmost respect, because my heart is trying to pull me in that direction with this car, but what few brain cells I have left are telling me to hold back a bit
Ok, I'm desperate here. I know I'm not supposed to be on here as I drive a Maserati (the red-headed step child) but I heard about the legendary Maranello Skunkworks and thought I would take a chance here. My '08 Quattroporte driver side sun visor support bracket has broken. Not the entire bracket, just the small plastic tab that keeps the visor secured to the roof (you know, that little critical part that is under stress when moving the visor that's made of plastic and subject to high temperatures when the car is outside). Maserati use to make a permanent repair kit (part # 2018189 as referenced in the technical bulletin MTB-119 dated 11/24/08); but it was discontinued. They will sell me a new visor with the plastic part that will simply break again for $1,500; but not $100 kit with the permanent fix I have heard a nasty rumor that some of the Ferrari's have this same problem and the skunkworks jumped into action to fix the problem.
Not to be a smart a$$, but is this anything that a goodly amount of JB Weld can't fix? Haven't you heard that JB Weld is what astronomers have identified as the hidden material that keeps black holes from falling apart? In any case it looks like Maserati Quattroporte sun visors can be had for far less than $1500: how about $270? Try here
Here is a pic of the part I fix. I replace the plastic with an aluminum sleeve. https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/posts/140641721/ I don't believe this is of any help to you.
A short(ish) hydraulic cylinder and comparably shorter springs on both front shocks with a manual control switch on the dash. Hydraulic power comes from a high pressure pump that's powered from the 12v system. I think these systems became available from the factory on the newer Ferrari's.
Has anyone considered adding LED light array to the Maranellos indicating RPM range similar to those on the F430 Scuderia steering wheel? Given how easy to rev the 550 engine to the red line limit that would be a nice feature to have somewhere within a driver's peripheral vision. I know it is more relevant to an F1 than manual shift, but I think it would still look cool on Maranellos.
Hi guys! How could a lift kit be done while remaining stock specification to the shocks and springs? I feel the suspention and height on my non FHP 550 is absolutely just perfect as it is and there are no leaks so I want to keep it like that, but since I am quite often places where the 550 is really painful to use because the bumper is really low with its overhang, I HAVE to get a way to raise the front as much as possible. Both for speedbumps and also for my new garage which is perfect except for its entrance which the car can not drive into without breaking the bumper totally!! I drive a 2013 Mercedes E200 now and even that one just goes in without touching the ground. On pickup trucks, it is quite normal to fit «airbags» which is not for the steering wheel, but for the suspention to aid for extra weight when you reduce the amount of leaf spring blades so get softer suspention when driving without load on the truck bed. This could be a way to make a lifting system. I am just curious if it would be fast enough when you approach a speed bump which is too tall and you just can’t stop quick enough. Where I am at the moment, which is France and Monaco, I HAVE to get a lift system for my Maranello if I want to bring it back down here. I decided not to take that car down when I drove it up to Norway this summer because it simply is just not a good car to drive around with because of the steep angles in parking areas and the fact that it becomes too hot. Have you guys had same experiences as me? Then there would be a big market for an affordable lift system for the 456/550/575 cars for sure! And it must lift more than just an inch!! GTFOOH! Looked at following creation of a genuine Skunkworks Ferrari 6ooM; thread disappears forever on Sept 4 (my brother's birthday) 2015, then three years five weeks later comes this Prince Charming in the form of a Maserati interrogator to breathe life back into the thread. Gimme a brake! So where is the 600M three years later?
