Really? I already have a 488 without stripes, this one deserves them in my opinion. There are not many cars out there worthy of body livery, the Pista wears it all so well.
sensors may be unsightly viewed at curb heigh. but who does that. most stand looking down at the car, not up. so who cares. the first nasty scrape will convert even the biggest detractors. paint can fix a scraped plastic bumper but a CF scrape is a major expense easily avoidable with a sensor.
I think Ferrari has a big influence on us by unveiling the car with stripes. If the car had no stripes at the launch I'm pretty sure very few people would chose them. I don't have anything against them, I just think thery are absolutely not mandatory on "hardcore" Ferraris. Look at those two cocaine packs.... aren't they cute ?
I cannot believe that the factory would produce this. Even if you were on crack finalising your spec you would not come up with this abomination. Who did the photoshop to produce this and what were they on?
Looking at this set of images makes me realize how (maybe) unneeded all the exterior CF stuff really is. To my eye, it diminishes the car by zero. MAYBE looks even better vs all the shiny CF.
I think you are right Oliver- the show car spec does influence us. But I disagree on these two cars. They look like they are not yet painted and awaiting the paint shop. I really don't like the black holes on the Speciale. Of course, to each his own...
I end up in the other camp, to me this looks unfinished. I think the CF is part of the look of these cars, but they give us a choice for a reason.
Agreed on both points, we saw so much exotic liveries that those two clearly look unfinished The black holes are ruining the speciale. Black wheels on white car make the car look dirty I love them because I have a fetish for mid engine full bianco Ferraris,
I think these cars can look very good in white, but for me at least, the whole stark white/black contrast risks becoming too much. This is all just personal preference. I would love to see a Rosso F1 2009 with gold stripes and black pinstripes around the stripes, gold wheels and black calipers for the Scuderia. Black interior with red stitch. And for the Speciale, I think Blu Pozzi with Grigio Titanio stripe, diamond wheels, silver calipers. Black, dark grey, or dark blue interior with grey stitch. Anyway, its fun to day dream!
I see the Pista was 2nd behind the Alpine in the English Top Gear mag, beat GT2RS & 600LT was 3rd. No lap times given unfortunately.
I always remember the F40 video up in the hills there. The F40 is coming out of the corner sideways and a few bikes are scattering to get out of the way while shouting encouragement to the driver!
